Chapter 172 Arrow Wound

Chapter 172 Arrow Wound

"Whoosh..."

After receiving Trunks' message from Seranthi, Green marched with the infantry regiments. After a brief battle, he joined the main army in killing several Serpent Cult cavalrymen.

Following Trunks' footsteps, they stormed into the alley, exhausting themselves after the ordeal. Truly, a strong general has no weak soldiers. In any case, ever since Grimm passed the dragon statue, he was considered a member of the Holy Dragon Knights. Due to his improved riding skills, he even equipped his horse with the Holy Dragon Knights' standard horse armor.

He had witnessed Trunks' spectacular duel with the Serpent Tyrant. The fact that Trunks, clad in heavy armor, could still nimbly execute a double-jump slash while on horseback spoke volumes about his skill.

Even with their morale low, the Python army's formidable strength should not be underestimated. They inflicted considerable losses on Barkley's forces, causing them to suffer significant casualties.

Green leaned against the wall, panting heavily. The battle had been truly thrilling. He had only managed to keep up with the Holy Dragon Knights and kill a few giant python infantry and giant python knights by relying on the piercing damage of his lance and greatsword.

Covered in heavy armor, Green's stamina was almost completely exhausted after just two rounds of back-and-forth fighting. Fortunately, it was all over, and they achieved a crucial victory.

When Green and Seranty met up, they did not find Trunks. The Holy Dragon Knights had already joined the ranks of those clearing out the remaining rebels in the city, while the heavy infantry of the Barkley Alliance had already begun clearing the battlefield.

Green looked around suspiciously at Trunks, a vague unease rising in his heart. But remembering Trunks' valiant performance in battle, he felt that it shouldn't be a problem for Trunks to act alone.

Just as Green and Seranti were about to ask the other members of the Holy Dragon Knights, a cry of alarm rang out. He quickly turned around and saw a Holy Dragon Knight running towards them from not far away, his face filled with panic.

"Oh no! Lord Trunks has been shot with an arrow!" the knight exclaimed, panting heavily.

Green's heart sank; he realized things might be more serious than he had imagined.

He decided to first go with the knight, each taking a scholar from the Azure Disciple, to check on Trunks' condition. The two hurried through the ruins and streets left by the war, riding their horses toward the depths of the city.

The Holy Dragon Knights immediately followed behind the two, and even Seranti frowned as he seized a nearby steed and sped off.

Along the way, Green was extremely anxious, constantly urging his horse to go faster. It turned out that just as Trunks and Aleris were lost in thought, four horned vipers coated with king cobra venom attacked from the surrounding rooftops, their attacks coming from treacherous angles, clearly intent on killing the two.

Fortunately, Trunks' combat instincts were very sharp. He immediately kicked Aleris away and swung his heavy halberd to cut down three poisoned horned viper vanguard arrows in mid-air. The last horned viper, however, pierced Trunks' left arm. He groaned and almost dropped his heavy halberd.

Upon seeing this, Aleris immediately got up and ordered his men to hunt down those who had fired the arrows. After confirming that the surrounding area was safe, he quickly examined Trunks's arrow wound.

However, after Aleris pulled the arrow out, the venom had already begun to spread, Trunks' face turned pale, and an excruciating pain made him break out in a cold sweat.

Green and the others arrived just in time, and the Azure Disciples immediately dismounted to examine Trunks.

Trunks collapsed to the ground, an arrow piercing his left forearm, blood staining his battle robes. Green quickly dismounted, ran to his side, and knelt down to examine his wound.

"Trunks, how are you?" Green asked anxiously.

Trunks frowned; he knew this poison was no ordinary one, as the Ring of Justice on his right pinky was gradually becoming hot.

A faint golden light emanated from the ring, and a warm current surged within Trunks' body, forcing most of the snake venom that had spread throughout his body out through the blood vessels from which it had originated. However... it seemed that the venom in his left hand could no longer be expelled; his left hand had turned a dark purple.

Meanwhile, the Azure Disciple scholars continued to inject snake venom serum into Trunks' left elbow crease. After a while, Trunks' complexion gradually regained some color.

Just then, Thranduil arrived. He frowned as he looked at Trunks's wound: "Who shot Trunks?"

The Holy Dragon Knight who delivered the message shook his head: "I don't know, but we must find the murderers as soon as possible to prevent them from harming Trunks again. Soldiers and some Holy Dragon Knights have already gone to capture them."

Thranduil nodded. "Then I'll stay here and guard Trunks."

......

At night, the people of Yaoyang Port also began to tidy up their houses again. Some were displaced, and some had lost their loved ones. For a time, the whole city was filled with wails and cries of grief. How could the coffin makers keep up with making so many coffins?

Most of those who bravely sacrificed their lives in this battle had their remains cremated, or took the shield back to their hometowns, or lay on it forever.

Barkley, whose name and home are unknown, is buried forever in Sunshine Harbor. The city will always remember them, and they will rest in peace in a cemetery outside the city.

There...fields of blue cornflowers and pure white daisies bloom.

Inside the fortress of Sunburst Harbor—the Lord's Bedroom.

Several senior scholars of the Azure Disciples had already performed basic treatment on Trunks, tightening the upper part of his left arm and pricking his fingertips with silver needles to drain the dark red poisonous blood.

Trunks felt an unbearable burning sensation in his left arm, which had turned even more purplish-black than before, and even somewhat black.

"...It's the king serpent venom of the Horned Viper Vanguard, and it seems to be cursed by the Serpent God as well."

"Right now, we can only control the spread of the toxins first, and then try to find a way to lift the curse," one scholar said.

Trunks, forcing back the pain, asked, "How confident are you that you can be cured?"

Another scholar shook his head: "This is the venom of the king cobra, plus the curse of the serpent god, so we are not entirely sure."

Trunks' heart sank; he didn't want to become a cripple.

Green and Seranty frowned deeply; they were very worried and had been staying with Trunks since the evening of the incident.

Ignoring the soreness in his body from fighting all day, and having no appetite for dinner, it was obvious to everyone that Trunks' left arm was beyond saving.

If it weren't for the Ring of Justice constantly slowing the spread of the poison, an ordinary person would have been dead long ago.

And as time went on, the toxins continued to slowly climb up Trunks' forearm.
