Berserk: The Prophet

Chapter 183 Howling Wolf

Chapter 183 Howling Wolf

"I did it! It has nothing to do with him!" Baziso gritted his teeth anxiously, unwilling to see his boss suffer such a brutal beating.

Green, however, was unaffected, gritting his teeth and enduring the physical pain. Ever since he learned from Kadi about the consequences of the demonic insects parasitizing his neck, he had no desire to live.

"Shut up! I'll beat you too!!" The lieutenant angrily whipped the two men.

Kadi naturally took in the scene outside and ordered his personal attendant to deliver a message, which quickly reached the ears of the lieutenant.

The lieutenant snorted coldly. Of all the concentration camp, this guy named Hanks was the most difficult to manage. He didn't know if he was tough or just had a stubborn skin. Several times, even when he was a little tired from beating him, the kid didn't utter a sound.

"Lock them in the water dungeon and let them reflect on their actions!" the overseer shouted.

The children watched as Green and Bazzo were taken away, their eyes filled with worry and anger, but under the soldiers' intimidation, they dared not make any rash moves.

In the water dungeon, where the chill of late winter had not yet completely faded, Green and Bazso were shirtless, their hands shackled with cast iron chains. The icy water reached their chests, and their backs were pressed against the cold walls. The pain and cold made it almost impossible for them to move.

The air grew quieter until Cardi arrived.

"I don't think you need to try so hard to prove yourself. It will parasitize you until you die. Just do your job well for me, and I won't treat you badly."

"Otherwise, I wouldn't mind if you really died."

Cardi was like a venomous snake that could see right through Green's mind, scrutinizing Green's battered and bruised body while uttering words that were piercing to the heart.

"Someone will come soon to make your life easier. You just need to be a tool for the rest of your life. Let go of those meaningless feelings and thoughts, and I believe you will live a pretty good life."

outside the city.

The young man, dressed in light leather armor and green clothes suitable for hiding among the trees, heard the melodious poems of Grant echoing through the city. From the deep green hills, his only remaining eye gazed at the concentration camp, brightly lit by campfires.

“Those children are singing a song from the Epic of Grant, Hickel,” the young man said slowly to the silver-haired girl beside him.

"...yes."

The young woman, referred to as Hickel, seemed to have been reminded of the past, and a slightly gratified smile appeared on her face.

The blond, one-eyed man stared at him for a moment, then a smile appeared on his face. Since then, he had rarely seen Hikel smile when they were alone.

Those who were imprisoned in Chester Prison back then suffered far worse than Green and Bazso in concentration camps today.

"...I hope they can hold out until General Kirsten's troops arrive." Hickel turned his head, his gaze falling on the man, a hint of tenderness flashing in his eyes.

“We’ve been through that kind of hardship ourselves, so we really hope they can pull through,” she said softly.

The man nodded. "Yes, definitely."

The two stood quietly on the mountaintop, gazing at the concentration camp in the distance, silently praying for them.

It was getting late, and Hicker broke the silence.

"Let's go back. There's more to do tomorrow."

The man smiled and said, "Okay, let's go back together."

They turned and left, their figures disappearing into the night.

.........

dawn.

Green and Baziso were pulled out of the water by the soldiers early on, and their bodies were stiff from soaking in cold water for almost the entire night.

The wounds and soft flesh that had been whipped open yesterday were also swollen from being soaked. There was no doubt that this would leave deep scars on his body. Baziso even sneezed and trembled all over.

Although Green was not feeling well, at least the little dragon in the totem didn't make him feel particularly uncomfortable. He moved his stiff body and looked at the trembling Bazzo, and Green sighed.

Ordinary people can't withstand such torment. Even the strong and healthy Baziso gets frostbite from the cold weather, let alone the other children who can't even get enough to eat.

Cold, fever, dysentery...

Either of these things could kill them, until the sick children could no longer move stones or chisel stones, and they would be used as targets for the Judas' soldiers to amuse themselves.

As for the girls... even a fool would know what the consequences of their inability to work and the training would be.

A few days ago, the last girl in their group couldn't hold on any longer and was hanged on the concentration camp's watchtower after being sexually assaulted by the soldiers.

"Get up quickly, and you'd better warm up properly. Our captain has arranged a great opportunity for you to perform."

Two Juda soldiers grinned maliciously, dragged the two men out, and tied them to wooden stakes outside the house to be exposed to the cold wind. This made Baziso's already red body shiver even more violently, and he curled up on the ground, hugging himself tightly.

Having just taken a cold shower and then being exposed to a cold wind, not to mention Bazzo, even Green couldn't stand it, and his muscles trembled involuntarily.

As the sun gradually rose, it brought a slight warmth to their cold bodies, but by then the two had long since recovered from the cold, and the water had mostly dried up. They only felt a warm, burning sensation on their bodies.

As a new day dawned, the other children were not released from their cages to begin their day's training. Instead, Juda's soldiers were gradually gathering around the log fence surrounding the drill ground, enjoying delicious meat dishes, while the children could only swallow their saliva thirstily in their respective cages.

Meanwhile, several wolves hiding behind the gate of the parade ground began to howl restlessly, which gave Green and Bazso a bad feeling. After the Juda soldiers finished their meal, they poured the still-warm meat soup on the two of them.

A Juda ten-man commander led the two men into the center of the parade ground. Two Juda soldiers unlocked their shackles and then tightly closed the wooden gate of the parade ground, completely shutting down the entrance and exit.

They also secured an excellent vantage point – the log fence surrounding the playground.

The concentration camp's wooden walls were covered with floors that the children had tamped down with stones. Built against the mountain, it could be considered a small fortress.

Meanwhile, the lieutenant who had whipped Green and Bazzo last night had set up a makeshift audience area, sitting at a table drinking and eating meat while waiting for the show to begin.

Because the location was a playground, the children could watch the battle from their own cages. The howls of wolves made them uneasy, as many children who could no longer stand were thrown to the wolves by Juda's soldiers.

Green and Baziso stood in the center of the playground, looking around nervously. Baziso, ignoring the cold and stiffness in his body, suddenly broke out in a cold sweat.
