Chapter 107 The War Begins Again
Chapter 107 The War Begins Again
James helped Shuichi Akai into the car.
"Don't tell Jodie about my trip to Japan yet." These were Shuichi Akai's first words after getting into the car.
James sighed softly: "So can you tell me how you got injured like this?"
Shuichi Akai was silent for a moment before saying, "It's Gin, and a fourteen or fifteen-year-old child."
"A child?! Was that child coerced?" James asked incredulously.
"Unfortunately, that's not the case."
Memories from several years ago churned in Shuichi Akai's mind—
At that time, Shuichi Akai and the FBI were setting a trap to secretly arrest Gin, but along the way, a soccer ball rolled into the field, and then a 12-year-old boy chased after it. After getting the ball, the boy stood still and dribbled it without leaving.
Then, an old man walked in and plopped down in the chair they had arranged for Gin, and stayed there for a long time.
The old man applauded as he watched the little boy's skillful ball juggling. The people lying in wait at the scene initially thought it was an innocent grandfather and grandson who had accidentally wandered into the area.
FBI agent Cameron couldn't bear it any longer and stepped out of the darkness to persuade the grandfather and grandson to leave.
Shuichi Akai's identity was exposed during that operation precisely because of Cameron's actions.
At Cameron's suggestion, the old man nodded and stood up obediently, while the boy glanced around expressionlessly, said nothing, and followed the old man obediently.
Only Shuichi Akai sensed precisely that the boy's gaze lingered for a moment when it fell upon the spot where he was hiding.
Shuichi Akai didn't have a deep impression of the old man, but he did have some impression of the boy.
The factory was rather dark at the time, and the boy's exposed skin was very fair. Moreover, he was deeply impressed by the boy's beautiful, cat-like eyes in the darkness.
The eyes of the young member of the organization he met today gave him a very strong sense of déjà vu.
With eyes as black as jewels and the same amber color, the boy sat on the railing, his legs swinging leisurely, like a cool black cat, or perhaps a predator sitting on a throne, looking down at everyone below with a cold gaze.
……
“Perhaps the FBI shouldn’t always be so fixated on Gin,” Shuichi Akai said, meeting James’s eyes. “That kid is also a potential breakthrough. Besides, we both really want to know about that kid, don’t we?”
Next, Shuichi Akai described in detail what had just happened, and James, who was bandaging his wounds, gradually became serious.
"...I'll report it immediately and see if we can verify the boy's identity. I'll also take you to the hospital later." James took out his phone to type.
Shuichi Akai stopped him and said calmly, "We have one more chance tonight."
……
The Porsche drove smoothly on the highway at night. The night was beautiful, but Bai Yexiu had no time to appreciate it—he was applying medicine to himself in the back seat. Because the wound had only been treated roughly before, the bandage was quickly stained red by the blood that seeped out later.
"Jundo, you shouldn't have shown up today. You've gone too far and will eventually get yourself into trouble." Gin's tone carried a hint of reproach.
"You really underestimate me. So what if I appear in front of Black Rye? Life is all about having some excitement. Admit it, you felt pretty good when you saw Black Rye being completely outmaneuvered by me, didn't you?" Bai Yexiu said in a playful tone.
“I’m just giving you a piece of advice,” Gin glanced at Bai Yexiu with a cold look, “I don’t want to do the job of collecting corpses, especially since that corpse is you.”
"Okay~ I know Gin is concerned about me, I appreciate your kindness~" Bai Yexiu's tone softened, and then he blew a kiss to Gin.
“…?” Gin turned his head away with a look of disgust, no longer looking at him.
Bai Yexiu certainly understood that it was wrong for him to casually show up in front of the FBI, but he had only one purpose: to seek excitement.
His body didn't have much time left, and because of that, he seemed to have become much bolder.
Perhaps because the car was too quiet, Bai Yexiu took out his laptop and started playing today's news broadcast. But less than five seconds later, Bai Yexiu inexplicably began scanning the car interior.
Gin, noticing his strange behavior, turned around and asked, "What are you looking for?"
"To be honest, my computer has a peculiar characteristic." Bai Yexiu was still searching for something in the car. "As long as there is something like a transmitter nearby, the computer will show a small area of screen distortion when playing videos. It started last time when this laptop fell to the ground from the second floor."
Gin paused slightly, then began scanning the car interior, reaching under the seats and searching thoroughly but finding nothing. Finally, after a moment's thought, Gin reached for his clothes—
Sure enough, a transmitter was stuck to the crease of the side pocket of the trench coat.
Vodka looked at it in shock: "This is..."
An eerie silence fell over the car.
"Heh." Gin's cold laugh broke the silence. "I didn't expect Rye to have played such a trick."
"Big brother, what's next..." Vodka's mind was racing, and his eyes were constantly glancing at the rearview mirror.
"...Oh no, brother, two cars are following us!" Vodka's eyes widened in surprise—he saw two cars rapidly approaching them at a much faster speed in the rearview mirror.
Gin glanced at the rearview mirror and lit a cigarette: "Looks like we're going to have another tough battle tonight."
"You! Put out your cigarette! Have you forgotten I'm still in the car?" Bai Yexiu stopped bandaging himself and glared at Gin with displeasure.
“Brother, we’re short on bullets this time…” Vodka suddenly interjected.
"Qin-chan, if you don't put out your cigarette, I'll report you to Father!"
"Big brother, how about we do this..."
Inside the car, everyone was talking at once, and the scene became somewhat chaotic until Gin impatiently said "Shut up," and the noise in the car subsided.
"Really..." Bai Yexiu started rummaging through the inside of his trench coat. "Vodka, what are you yelling about? Leave the ammunition to me."
"Ah, where did I make any noise..." Vodka sounded a little aggrieved.
Next, Bai Yexiu silently pulled out a gun, a box of bullets, three miniature bombs, two tear gas canisters, two smoke grenades, five packets of sedative powder developed by Peino, and a packet of chili powder from inside his trench coat.
Vodka stared in disbelief—could Cointreau really carry so much stuff in his clothes?
Gin didn't show much of an expression; he simply stubbed out his cigarette silently.
"Although it's not much, it'll at least give them a hard time." Bai Yexiu smiled and winked at Gin.
