Chapter 749 - 675 Lanci and Talia’s Tacit Understanding Becomes a Puzzle_3

This was an office department, styled somewhat similarly to the Old Literature Building.

"The second and third floors here are entirely the divisions of the executioners,"

Lanci introduced to Talia standing beside him.

The two ascended the spiral staircase, and as they climbed higher, the scenery around them began to unfold more expansively.

With each floor they reached, a different department and office came into view, bustling with Parriet residents coming and going, either discussing or deep in thought.

When they finally reached the third floor of the spiral staircase, beside them was a series of large, city-facing bay windows that allowed an unobstructed view of the Parriet landscape below, with bustling traffic and high-rises, a living city, of which this was the heart.

Without lingering on the view, the two walked lightly to the office at the end of the floor and knocked on the door.

"Come in."

A clear male voice came from behind the door.

Lanci pushed the door open, and a brightly lit office appeared before them.

The deep brown walls were adorned with clippings and old maps, the desk neatly piled with an abundance of files and notes, next to which stood a Medicinal Magic Analysis Mirror, a few Alchemy reagent jars, and an open folder of official correspondence.

The section shelves beside the desk on the floor displayed newspapers, manuscripts, and fingerprint powders, along with magic devices of unclear purpose.

Two leather sofas sat quietly beside the walls, and the arrangement with the bookshelves was orderly and precise, but most eye-catching of all was the young man in a black suit sitting behind the desk facing the entrance.

Sergeant Nigel was not wearing his military cap today, with his coat hung on the cabinet, but his eyes were as sharp as ever, and the badge of Duke Tiffany’s House was still neatly pinned on his shoulder.

"Mr. Nigel, we are here,"

Lanci greeted him.

A few days ago, they had had an unintentional encounter on the airship Floating Castle Number, and in the end, it was this executioner who let them go and left his contact information.

She wouldn’t allow anyone to harm the Demon Race she had saved.

"The situation isn’t so bad at the moment, it’s only ’possible’ for now. If she’s in danger, I’ll inform you at the first opportunity."

Sergeant Nigel set down his coffee cup, shook his head, and signaled for them to listen patiently to what he had to say.

"I did some background checking on you both, please forgive me. Mr. Lanci, you are indeed the Great Priest Loren’s top disciple and also a remarkably talented Cardmaker. As for Miss Tata, you are Mr. Lanci’s neighbor from Nanwantina where you grew up together, and you currently reside in Capital City Ichrite, working near your school,"

Nigel looked at both of them, confirming their information with them.

Though he was unsure how much of the information he could uncover was true or false, the age difference between the two in front of him didn’t seem significant.

However, he believed that the female who called herself Tata possessed a mysterious power that didn’t match her youthful appearance.

"..."

Lanci and Talia exchanged glances.

It sounded about right.

But they hardly seemed like childhood friends.

Since Tata’s citizenship records were all in Nanwantina, and it was Hans, the butler of the Wilford family, who had used his connections to take care of her, it was possible that her background was indeed near the area lied by the Wilford House.

It was not clear how Hans had arranged it, but when Nigel did his research, he actually found that they were childhood friends who had grown up together.

As for Lanci, the current registration information available in the Southern Continent Cardmaker’s Association should state him as Gold-level.

After he passed the registration exam, Vice Chairman Lawrence of the Ichrite Branch offered him a temporary Gold-level license.

It was only until recently that his full certification came through, transitioning him from "provisional Platinum-Level" to formally acquiring Platinum-Level authorization.

For Lanci’s safety, the Poseen Kingdom kept his Platinum-Level status confidential to all but Countess Rosalinda and The Senate, who were responsible for arranging his work, until he had been safely returned to Hutton Kingdom, after which the Southern Continent Card Maker’s Association would officially announce it.

Nigel didn’t specify what level Lanci was exactly.
