Chapter 193: Conflicting Emotions
Chapter 193: Conflicting Emotions
Back in the original timeline’s destroyed dryad tribe, the ominous system’s voice echoed, ‡[Is the player just going to stand around and do nothing?]‡
The man replied, "Well, I’m curious as to what is going to happen next, now that he has gone to the other world. I remember he said he would be combining the timelines when we first met. I’m just here to see exactly how it’s going to look like."
The system then replied, ‡[But if the other player is close by, won’t they be notified of the player’s existence?]‡
The man let out a sigh as he mumbled, "You have a point there. My thousands of years of planning will go up in flames if I make the same mistake he did." The man then turned around and snapped his fingers. Suddenly, the air in front of him began to crackle, and a massive purple portal opened up.
The man’s steps echoed as he walked towards the purple portal. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, prompting the system to ask, ‡[Why the sudden pause, player?]‡
The man then mumbled, "I’m suddenly curious as to how much damage the dryad ancient tree did."
The man then instantly propelled himself into the air, a malevolent purple aura shrouded his body as he soared through the air with a massive, instantaneous sonic boom. He arrived at the destroyed ant tribe in the blink of an eye, his movements as fast as light.@@@@
The massive sonic booms created when he moved extended far enough to crush the trees beneath his flight path, carving a destructive trail through the landscape.
The man hovered over the ant city, murmuring as he surveyed the ruined landscape. "So, this is what he meant," a smile formed beneath his lips as he continued, "a truly sad scene. I wonder how he must have felt when he saw all of this. I’m sure he was just as devastated as he was when he told me about it back then.
It’s strange how time works, but he must have still felt the same way." The man chuckled, adding, "Knowing I was able to cause him some degree of pain makes me excited."
"Amazing, truly amazing," mused Elder Aelorin, her eyes wandering over the passing forest below. The wind whizzed past her ears, tousling her hair, and she wore a slightly excited expression. "So this is how the great dragons feel as they soar through the air. It’s a truly amazing feeling." She glanced at Akun, her respect for him growing by the second.
As Akun passed by their respective tribes, he gradually dropped off each of the other tribe leaders. Once he had safely delivered them all, he and the elders headed toward the dryad tribe.
"Truly fascinating," Elder Sylara spoke with an excited tone. Elder Aelorin glanced at her, mirroring her expression. Both of them exchanged glances with Elder Thalanor and Nyressa, their faces filled with excitement.
"We’re here," Akun mumbled as he gently landed them at the dryad tribe, creating a soft thud.
The Dryad people wore worried expressions as they caught sight of Akun. The elders, noticing this, immediately moved to calm them down as they proceeded toward the castle.
"Calm down," Thalanor reassured. He added, "He comes with our best interests at heart."
"Yes, he is here to help us," Elder Aelorin added, her voice calming. "So, you should all calm down."
The Dryads began to slowly ease their tension, though some still wore conflicted expressions.
Upon reaching the Tree Castle, the dryad guards pointed their metallic wooden spears in fear, mumbling with trembling hands, "H... Halt, don’t come any closer," the one to the right spoke.
Elder Nyressa stepped forward, placing her hand on the spear as she said, "Calm down. He has come to help us. Treat him well."
