Chapter 221 The Plan Is In Motion

Chapter 221 The Plan Is In Motion

As the demons finished their ruthless conquest of the Frostgate Barrens, they advanced into the other territories—the powerful Ironspire Shire and the beautiful Thunderhelm County. Unlike the deal the demon prince made with Duke Yandol Von Frostgate, there was no room for diplomacy here.

The demons unleashed a wave of chaos, slaughtering all who dared to oppose them and seizing absolute control over these once-thriving regions.

The once-lush landscapes now became witness to the bloody aftermath of the demonic invasion. Fields that once filled with the rustle of crops, were trampled and stained with blood. Villages, once alive with the laughter of children and the hum of daily life, were reduced to empty destroyed homes. The very essence of life seemed to be drained from these once-prosperous territories.

Ironspire Shire, known for its powerful walls and skilled knights, fell under the sheer power of the demonic invaders. The demons spared no soul, leaving a trail of destruction that echoed through the buildings and along the empty streets. Thunderhelm County, well known for its lively festivals and beautiful waterfalls, was now left with only with the haunting whispers of despair.

The demons, guided by their never ending thirst for dominance, enjoyed the chaos they caused and desolation they left behind. They moved with coordination, their presence staining every inch of the conquered lands. In their wake, once-proud banners were torn down, replaced by the ominous insignia of the demonic horde.

The very earth seemed to shake under the weight of this evil force, as if recoiling from the wickedness now rooted in its soil. Trees stood as silent witnesses to the atrocities, their branches stripped of leaves, and the air itself carried a visible sense of mourning.

The demons, their thirst for conquest never ending, set their sights on the grandeur of Imperia Magna, the capital of the Leonheart Empire. Unlike their prior invasion into the Frostgate Barrens, Ironspire Shire and Thunderhelm County, the capital was a powerful challenge.

Well known for its magic knights wielding weapons and armor powered by monster cores, Imperia Magna presented a big obstacle for the demonic horde.

Not giving up, the demons, increased their numbers by calling for reinforcements from the demon continent, amassed their forces for an assault on the capital. The clash of powers began, and the magic knights, symbols of the empire's strength, fought as hard as they could against the demonic invaders. Explore more stories with My Virtual Library Empire

However, the demon curse began to seep through their defenses, causing the once-unyielding knights to fall, shifting the tide of the battle in favor of the demons.

Imperia Magna, recognizing the dire situation they found themselves in, had a secret trump card—a weapon created by the empire's finest mages, runesmiths, blacksmiths, and alchemists. This superweapon held the promise of instant victory, but it came at a huge cost. The weapon demanded a large amount of powerful monster cores to unleash its unmatched might.

As the battle raged on, the empire's leaders faced a problem. The available monster cores were running low, and even if they used every core in their possession, it wouldn't be enough to fully power the superweapon. The once-hopeful strategy now hung in the balance, leaving the fate of Imperia Magna and the entire Leonheart Empire hanging in the balance of the dwindling monster core reservs.

The sounds of clashing forces echowed through the air.

Due to this fact, the king called a meeting in the royal castle's war room, to discuss how the issue would be handled. Time was running out, with magic knights dying every day, so this meeting was of utmost importance.

The room buzzed with urgency as the mages, runesmiths, blacksmiths, and alchemists began formulating plans. The fate of Imperia Magna rested on the success of this mission into the heart of the godforsaken forest, a place shrouded in mystery and danger.

King Leonheart, his resolve unyielding, concluded the meeting with a proclamation: "May our soldiers venture forth with bravery and return with the keys to unlocking the power that will save our empire.

Together, we shall face the darkness that threatens to consume us and emerge victorious." The room echoed with a resolute spirit as preparations for this perilous expedition unfolded, intertwining the destinies of the Leonheart Empire with the untamed mysteries of the godforsaken forest.

Later at night, as the cold rain painted the city streets in shimmering reflections, Lideia, wearing a flowing black robe, made her way through the dark alleys of Imperia Magna. Thunder echowed through the clouds, creating a chilly atmosphere that echoed her purposeful strides. In her hands, she held a small, weathered map, guiding her through the city's maze.

The night seemed to give Imperia Magna in an air of mystery, and Lideia moved with a serious look in her eyes. Following the twists and turns, she eventually arrived at a quaint yet secluded bar. She walked up to it slowly and pulled open the door then stepped in.

Its dimly lit interior revealed only two occupants – a man with black and silver hair, wearing rather casual cloths, and the attentive bar attendant.

Entering the establishment, Lideia's presence seemed to stir a subtle shift in the air. The man at the bar, seemingly unfazed by the rain-soaked night, turned his gaze toward her. The bar attendant, wiping a glass with a cloth, acknowledged her with a nod.

The man in qustion was the first demon prince Alzureth, he had used a spell to conceal his demonic featurs, appearing as if tho he was a regular human.

Breaking the silence, Alzureth's voice was a low murmur, cutting through the rhythmic pitter-patter of raindrops. "How did the meeting go?" he inquired, a flicker of impatience could be seen in his eyes.

Lideia hesitated for a moment, the air heavy with unspoken tension, before divulging, "I suggested sending our soldiers to the Godforsaken Forest to retrieve cores, as you proposed."

Alzureth's eyes, cold and piercing, locked onto Lideia. "How did they react to the suggestion?"

Lideia, momentarily caught in the intensity of his gaze, steadied herself. "The alchemist and blacksmith were skeptical at first, but they acknowledged the urgency of the situation. The idea of acquiring cores from the forest's monsters seemed to be the only viable option."

A subtle smirk curled Alzureth's lips as he absorbed the information. Then, Lideia shifted the focus. "You got what you wanted; now, where is she?" she asked, a flicker of concern softening her voice.

A shadow seemed to flicker across Alzureth's face, a momentary lapse in his composed demeanor. He leaned back, studying Lideia with a measured intensity before finally responding, "Your sister is safe, for now. Fulfill your part of the bargain, and she will remain unharmed."

The bar attendant, seemingly oblivious to the weighty exchange, continued wiping glasses behind the bar. The rain outside persisted, a symphony to the clandestine meeting transpiring within the walls of the dimly lit bar.
