Chapter 275: 274, Du Wei’s Surprise

Eek!

When Alex opened the door, it was much earlier than Du Wei had expected.

He coughed casually and flicked away the cigarette, stomping it out with his foot.

Seeing this, Alex’s handsome brows raised slightly, and she hummed discontentedly in her heart.

She didn’t really like Du Wei smoking, or to be precise, smoking too much.

Because it was bad for his health.

If they ever decided to have kids in the future, smoking and drinking could be quite troublesome.

But since they weren’t married yet, she felt it wasn’t her place to say anything.

However, as Alex sized up Du Wei, she didn’t notice where the “gift” actually was.

It was a matter of perspective.

So, with a hint of surprise, she asked, “Honey, where’s the gift you prepared?”

Du Wei replied with a faint smile, “It’s in the car. I’m sure you’ll love it.”

Saying so, he took a serious look at his girlfriend.

Without makeup he could hardly tell.

But no matter how he looked, Alex was always stunningly beautiful.

Her facial features were naturally exquisite, and she wore a simple, pale white dress that made her seem less coldly beautiful than before, adding a touch of gentle softness instead.

Yet, even so, her tall stature still gave an imposing impression.

Alex felt a bit shy under Du Wei’s gaze, but the corners of her lips involuntarily curled up slightly.

“Do I look good, baby?”

With a challenging air, she looked at Du Wei and moved closer to him, intending to embrace him as an affectionate gesture.

However, inadvertently, she glanced at the car.

And with just one look, she was stunned.

“This... this...”

Alex was flustered as she turned her head, staring at Du Wei in disbelief, “Honey, is this the gift you prepared?”

Had she seen it wrong? The entire trunk was filled with fresh flowers, still with dew on them, obviously freshly picked not long ago.

Du Wei smiled, “How is it? Isn’t it a surprise?”

As he spoke, Du Wei took Alex’s delicate hand and led her to the back seat of the car.

“You underestimate women way too much, baby.”

Du Wei maintained a very calm face, “I think you should trust me. Is this your doubt in me? Do you see me as that untrustworthy?”

Alex snorted, “To make me trust you? Fine, come inside, we’ll talk in detail in bed.”

Du Wei’s eyes changed, “I’m feeling a bit under the weather.”

Alex said teasingly, “Oh? Do men also get their periods?”

Without another word, she pulled Du Wei into the house.

...

An hour later.

Du Wei sat on the bed, silently pulling a pack of cigarettes from the clothes on the ground, but thinking it wouldn’t be right to use that lighter in front of Alex, he just held it in his hand, motionless.

“Here, I bought one for you.”

Alex lay beside him, casually taking a gift box from the bedside table. After opening it, inside was an exquisitely designed Zippo lighter.

Du Wei awkwardly took the lighter and lit his cigarette.

Smoking it, something suddenly felt strange.

“I thought you didn’t like me smoking?”

Alex said indifferently, “That depends on when. Just smoke less from now on, and next time, stay out of police matters. Those murderers are very dangerous.”

Du Wei hummed in acknowledgment.

What he told Alex was that he indeed had gone to cooperate with the police on a criminal case, but he didn’t utter a word about Evil Spirit.

So, he had managed to bluff his way through.

Heh, women.

Thinking this, Du Wei’s face didn’t show the slightest hint of these thoughts as he asked softly, “By the way, what about the flowers in the car? I picked for quite a long time, at least a couple thousand bunches. Should we ask the security to help bring them in?”

Alex rolled her eyes, “How could I let someone else touch the things you give me? I’ll go get them myself later.”

With that, Alex got off the bed, her graceful figure causing Du Wei to feel enchanted.

“I’m going to take a shower first. So are you going back home tonight?”

While saying that, Alex walked towards the bathroom.

Du Wei thought about it; now at home were just Annabelle and the Antique Clock. As for the dark shadow, he had already turned it into the new Masked Evil Spirit, and it was almost useless now, so whether he went back or not, nothing would happen.

Thus, watching his girlfriend walk away, Du Wei said with a smile, “I won’t go back tonight. I’m actually planning to take a vacation soon to spend some quality time with you.”
