Chapter 222 Descending In Abyssal Rift

Chapter 222 Descending In Abyssal Rift

Emerging from the portal, Linsley, Lucy, and Ted stood on the jagged edge of the Abyssal Rift.

Below them lay an unfathomable darkness, broken only by sporadic flashes of crimson light that illuminated the chasm's cavernous walls. Each pulse of energy rippled outward like a malignant heartbeat, suffusing the air with an oppressive weight that seemed to claw at their resolve.

Lucy's Angel of Redemption: Gabriel gift flared brighter, her golden light pushing back the haze of corruption. The divine glow outlined the sharp, twisted rock formations lining the rift and revealed massive, pulsating veins of dark crimson flux running through the stone.

"This place feels alive," Lucy muttered, her voice cutting through the ominous silence. "Or like something waiting to wake up."

Ted's brown flux swirled protectively around him as he stepped closer to the edge. His sharp gaze tracked the trails of crimson energy, leading deeper into the rift's abyssal depths.

"They're not just hoarding power here," he said, his tone grim. "They're channeling it. Preparing for something big."

Linsley's white flux shimmered faintly as he surveyed the rift. His expression remained calm, though his voice carried an edge of urgency.

"We need to destroy whatever's anchoring their corruption here. The longer this rift exists, the more dangerous it becomes."

With a nod of agreement, the trio descended into the Abyssal Rift.

Linsley used his Real Fantasy gift to create stable platforms of light that spiraled downward, allowing them to bypass the jagged, unstable terrain.

The path shimmered under Lucy's golden illumination, the only source of light cutting through the oppressive darkness.

As they ventured deeper, the environment grew more grotesque. The walls of the chasm were slick with a fleshy, pulsating texture, as though the rift itself was alive.

Dark tendrils snaked out from crevices, writhing like searching appendages before recoiling from Lucy's holy light. Pools of corrupted flux bubbled ominously, releasing clouds of toxic mist that Ted's annihilation flux effortlessly dissipated.

"Stay alert," Linsley said, his eyes scanning their surroundings. "This place is crawling with traps."

"This is their best strategy?" Linsley said, his voice tinged with disdain. "They're only playing into my hands."

Another lackey, a hulking brute with explosive gift mutations, hurled volatile energy bombs toward the trio.

Linsley countered by creating a mirror zone, reflecting the projectiles back toward their sender. The resulting explosion consumed the lackey and several nearby allies in a fiery burst of corrupted energy.

Lucy's radiant light intensified, her spear cutting through mutated limbs and severing the hybrid abilities of the lackeys. She moved with precision, her Angel of Redemption: Gabriel gift burning away the corruption with each strike.

One of the more aggressive figures—its body contorted with a fusion of shadow and flame—rushed her, only to be met with a blast of purifying light that incinerated it before it could get close.

"These abominations are just another delay," Lucy said, her golden eyes narrowing. "They're throwing everything at us to buy time."

Ted unleashed a wave of brown flux, his annihilation gift erasing anything in its path.

As a mutated lackey with tendrils radiating chaotic energy lunged at him, Ted's precise strike disintegrated its form entirely. "Then let's make this quick. I'm tired of playing with their scraps."

As the trio advanced, the mutated lackeys became more desperate, their hybrid and mutated gifts flaring with chaotic intensity.

A particularly resilient figure manipulated gravity to crush the group, but Linsley twisted the laws of reality around it, forcing its own gravitational field to implode. The creature collapsed under the weight of its own attack.

Finally, the trio reached the rift's core.

The immense cavern was dominated by a monolithic altar of blackened stone.

Atop it loomed a massive, pulsating sphere of crimson flux, its surface alive with countless tendrils burrowing into the walls.

The oppressive heartbeat of the sphere echoed throughout the chamber, its dark energy feeding into the very foundation of the Umbra Continent's corruption.
