Chapter 312 Someone come quick, Newton's coffin lid can't hold on!

Fang Ye's gaze swept the exhibit before quickly shifting to the hillside!

After all, the few foxes were senior members of the zoo, with the longest time spent together and quite profound affection for one another. Moreover, in terms of hierarchy, foxes were in a weaker position compared to bharals and sika deers.

Even though bharals and sika deers are herbivores, they're not pushovers. If a conflict arose, a single kick could injure a fox—there was too significant a size discrepancy.

Xiaoqiao was standing atop a large rock on the hillside like a solemn statue, body erect, ears pricked up, vigilantly watching the distance as if she were standing guard for the other foxes!

At the slightest rustle of leaves or grass, she could give the signal, and everyone would hide or run back to the den.

Next to the large rock, a mound of earth had risen! This was from the fox digging holes.

Behind the entrance, two slender, black-stockinged legs were visible, with half of a fox's body emerging, its fluffy tail drooping behind, and its front paws rapidly scraping inside the hole, sending handfuls of dirt flying from beneath its legs.

Youyou was busily digging, and Sugar Pack was on alert too!

Sugar Pack stood next to a bush, looking out towards the bharals on the stony mountain and the sika deer in the distance, seemingly eager to go and play with them.

However, after glancing back at Xiaoqiao, Xiaoqiao turned her head to stare at her and let out a "ying ying" sound, as if saying, "The den isn't ready yet; it's too dangerous! We need to establish a secure hiding spot first!"

Alright then!

Following Big Sister Xiaoqiao's command, Sugar Pack tucked in her paws and resumed her watchful post, her tail waving slowly like a flag.

Big Eye had no sense of crisis whatsoever, his chubby body lazily sprawled on the ground, his chin resting on the sparse grass, basking in the sun with a very lazy, deadbeat fish appearance!

He wasn't up to the task of digging and Xiaoqiao didn't bother to ask him to stand guard either. He was left to do whatever he pleased.

Which suited Big Eye just fine!

Glancing at Youyou who was digging, then at Xiaoqiao standing guard, he yawned out of sheer boredom, shook his tail, rolled over, and continued to lounge in the sun, belly exposed.

He started to doze off as he sunbathed, drool trickling down the corner of his mouth.

The protrusions in the zoo's rockery are all very obvious; the wild environments are innumerably more challenging. In some places, the cliffs are exceedingly steep, nearly 70 degrees vertical, offering barely room for half a hoof with rocks that might come loose and tumble down.

Even for a climbing master like the bharal, a small misstep can lead to a fall off the edge and crashing to the ground.

However, this is the very skill they've evolved in response to other predators!

The more treacherous the terrain, the better it can evade a predator's pursuit, and those lacking in climbing ability are naturally weeded out.

The bharal remained unruffled, but the onlookers were anything but; their eyes widened and mouths gaped in amazement!

This was especially true for middle-aged visitors who grew up on martial arts novels and TV dramas, all having dreamt of being heroes, imagining living lives of swordplay and righteous feuds, perhaps even mimicking a few moves with a textbook or a wooden stick as pretend weapons!

The heroes weren't just skilled in combat; their most awesome trait was their ability to effortlessly leap onto roofs and run along walls, a light tap of their foot sending them soaring—a spectacle truly beyond imitation.

Seeing how effortlessly the bharal moved along the rock wall, seemingly untouched by gravity, they couldn't help exclaiming, "Someone, quick, Newton's coffin lid won't stay put!"

"Well, Darwin's already kept Newton's coffin lid down tight!"

"Young hero, your lightness skill is extraordinary! May I ask, who was your teacher?"

"This movement is so nimble and light, it must be Wudang's Cloud Ladder!"

Fang Ye felt a sense of accomplishment seeing the visitors' appreciation and enjoyment of the bharal.

As a modern zoo, it's about creating opportunities for animals to display natural behavior.

All those flashy performances, using live chicken to tease a tiger, what year is it that we still entertain such lowbrow tastes? Isn't watching the bharals happily hopping around the mountainside delightful?

After taking photos, a visitor looked wistful and said to his companion, "Hey, watching these bharals rock climb makes me wish I had their ability. Leaping and bounding across cliffs must be so thrilling! But just thinking about standing on the edge of a precipice, my legs might go weak before I could even jump."

The companion chuckled, "You see, when the bharal jump, they do splits, which is the secret to their fluid leaps! While in the air, they wave to increase lift— isn't that how helicopters fly? Quite scientific, right?

I once jumped down from a school building, doing splits and waving all the way down, and I wasn't hurt at all."

The visitor doubled over laughing, "Haha, I guess not everyone's physique can be lumped together, right?"
