Chapter 47 Depressing Warmth? (edited)
After the words of the Jester ominously resounded inside her mind, she felt her eyes go heavy. Her body then began to sink through the dry, cracked ground.
She soon fell and became submerged in a sea of absolute darkness. Similar to the world Marionette had brought her in, except colder and more suffocating.
The longer she fell, the more she felt her body warmth leaving her.
That was until a few moments later, she fell and slammed her back against a hard surface.
"Ugh..." Lillian groaned, slowly opening her eyes and glancing at her surroundings. (2)
Nothing by darkness filled her sight, causing her to grimace as she patted the ground, feeling the rough and uneven texture of the stone.
"So this is the Catacombs... can't say I didn't expect this..." Lillian looked around, trying to find a source of light.
She then stood up, summoned her rapier out of her spacial ring, and walked forward, holding the tip of her raper out towards the ground like a blind man using a walking stick.
"I wonder where Marionette is... I hope she's close..." Lillian wondered, continuing to walk forward before stopping.
The echoes of her footsteps resounded eerily. The occasional sounds of tapping and scraping of her rapier also spread out to the surroundings. She didn't know why, but she felt like she was being followed.
After a few more minutes of this seemingly endless walk of her, she sighed, seeing that nothing had changed, "I need some light..."
An idea then popped into her head as she summoned her system, staring at the sudden changes it had gone through.

Its dark metal frame was twisted, stained in soot, with charred chains tightly wrapped around the blackened leather handle.
Some links of the cracks were cracked and chipped. This subtle detail was only visible due to the radiant flame burning behind the black-tinted paned glass of the lantern.
Within the cage of the lantern, a deep orange flame burned with subtle blue flickering within it.
She felt a sense of sorrow gazing at it.
She tightly held the handle, caressing the strangely cold frame of the lantern and holding it around her, revealing a part of the Catacombs.
She watched how effective it was and couldn't help but outwardly comment on it.
"This is really effectiv—"
However, before she could finish her sentence, the flame of her lantern then suddenly revealed a monster eerily staring at her.
Lillian quickly backed away, startled at the sudden monster before her. She then watched as it tilted its head at her, staring at the light, squinting its compound eyes. (10)
Its brown body was covered in a thin and flexible carapace that was segmented into different parts. Its limbs were thin and hairy, and at the end of each one had three hooked appendages.
It looked more like an insect than a monster. An insect that stood at about two metres and was standing on its hind legs like a human.
Its antennas that stretched out from the top of its head twitched at her. The mandibles at its mouth, clicking. A strange translucent liquid dripped down out of its mouth, foaming slightly.
Lillian grimaced as it seemed to become hostile at the presence of light. She watched as its body vigorously twitched like it was allergic to the light. (8)
She watched as it clutched the sides of its head, bending over and thrashing its body left and right, its saliva or whatever that came out of its mouth flying around.
Its carapace shifted around at its movements, suddenly becoming still. The strange insectoid then lowered its arm away from its head, dropping it to its sides and staring at Lillian.
Its mandibles smacked against each other, its compound eyes darting around.
Then suddenly, with a bend of its knees, it shot towards her. Its hooked feet rapidly stomped against the ground, reaching her. It raised its thin arm and swung it at her.
Lillian frowned, gripping her rapier and slashing towards its arm. (2)
