Boom
"Snapped!"
"Neigh!"
The sound of heavy objects falling from the roof could be heard intermittently, and a layer of dust settled on the eaves. The neighing of horses could be heard from time to time, and it seemed that chaos reigned outside.
The guards at the door and everyone inside the room looked up at the roof, wondering if it was sturdy enough to withstand an attack.
"Splash!"
"Crack~"
The sound came from inside the courtyard.
“You little devil, I have never harmed anyone, nor have I ever taken a life. How did you find me?” The shopkeeper’s originally warm voice now carried a hint of icy coldness.
"A demon is a demon, it will always exude demonic energy, what's so difficult about discovering you?" A deep, strong male voice said without any emotion.
“I have accumulated good deeds and cultivated myself for over a hundred years, and have already received the protection of the Heavenly Dao. My body is radiant with golden light of merit. Why must you be so ruthless as to kill me?” the shopkeeper said unwillingly.
"Since you say you are practicing good deeds and have not harmed anyone, then come back to the Celestial Master's Pavilion with me, and the Celestial Master will make the decision."
"Hmph, go back to the Celestial Master's Pavilion? Are you kidding me? If I go back to the Celestial Master's Pavilion, will I even survive?" The shopkeeper's voice was clearly tinged with sorrow. The Celestial Master's Pavilion has always taken it upon itself to slay demons and eliminate evil. When has anyone ever heard of a demon entering the Celestial Master's Pavilion ever managing to escape unscathed? "Since we can't reach an agreement, then let me see the abilities of Lord Earthly Fiend."
"boom!"
"Splash!"
Dust billowed, and rubble and roof beams fell in disarray. A thick tail slithered into the roof like a serpent, then coiled around a guard standing by the door and quickly retracted.
"Old Wu!" When the other constable reacted, he only had time to shout, his face full of anger. He weakly waved the steel knife in his hand a few times, but did not have the courage to open the door and go out to save people.
"Is this what you call accumulating good deeds and doing good?" The Earthly Fiend Lord outside was enraged by the Three-Tailed Cat Demon's actions and shouted angrily.
"Ah, a monster!" A sharp cry came from outside, followed by the sound of a door opening, and then a flurry of footsteps and the clattering of shackles gradually faded into the distance.
"You little Fiend, don't push your luck!" the three-tailed cat demon shouted.
Ning Xiaoxi hugged her mother tightly, huddled in a corner. No matter what, running away was not a wise move. With Lord Di Sha blocking their way, they could still hold out for a while.
[Host, would you like to watch the monster-catching live stream?] The little dumpling's cheerful voice suddenly rang out at an inopportune moment.
Before Ning Xiaoxi could react, a screen slowly opened in front of her, as if looking down on the entire Shili Post Station from God's perspective.
The few men who had just rushed out of the room staggered through the night, dragging their handcuffs and shackles. About a dozen constables and officials stood inside and outside the post station, all with their swords drawn, guarding the doors to the prisoners' rooms and the main gate. Ding You, his face dark, stood inside the main gate, also with his sword drawn.
Three roofs had cracked open, the gaping holes resembling the gaping maw of a giant beast.
Night had fallen outside, and the darkness, like a huge black silk ribbon, pressed heavily over the ten-mile post station. The already dim sky was filled with rolling dark clouds, and the cold moonlight struggled to penetrate the clouds, sprinkling specks on the ruins of the post station, casting an uncertain shadow of death over the place where a fierce battle was about to break out.
Lord Di Sha appeared as if he had emerged from the abyss of darkness, his posture upright, his black robes billowing like ink clouds, dancing wildly in the howling night wind. His deep eyes were like cold stars falling into an icy lake, their chilling light seemingly able to pierce the soul, and the oppressive aura emanating from him was so tangible that it seemed to freeze the surrounding air.
The three-tailed cat demon was like a ghost in the dark night, its figure appearing and disappearing behind the ruins, indistinct and hard to discern. It had completely lost the kind and gentle appearance of the grocer; only its three long tails swayed uneasily, causing the three constables who had just been pulled out of the house to sweep across the broken stones and wood on the ground with dull thuds.
The three people screamed intermittently, their agonizing cries even more chilling in the pitch-black night. The blood gushing from their wounds was like a spell opening Pandora's box, turning the three-tailed cat demon's eyes a deep crimson.
"Demon, stop now!" A cold glint flashed in Di Sha's dark eyes as he looked warily at the three constables who were wrapped in the long tail and looked like they were on the verge of death.
A sinister smile crept across the furry cat's face. Suddenly, the three-tailed cat demon sprang forth like a black lightning bolt, its target the several prisoners fleeing in terror. In an instant, it darted through the crowd like a ghost, its sharp, hooked claws precisely seizing one man's throat, dragging him out and lifting him high in the direction of Lord Di Sha.
The hostage's face was instantly filled with fear. His eyes widened, and the cold figure of the Earthly Fiend Lord was reflected in his pupils. His body trembled violently uncontrollably, and he could only make a weak "gurgling" sound in his throat. He couldn't even call for help.
"Crack!"
A terrifying snapping sound rang out, and the hostage's head twisted to one side, his eyes wide open, filled with fear and resentment, but devoid of any light.
"Boom!"
A muffled rumble of thunder echoed through the churning sky, and a faint, eerie light emanated from the hostage's body, swaying and merging into the cat demon's form. The three-tailed cat demon trembled violently, as if it had taken a stimulant, and its demonic power solidified considerably, showing faint signs of breaking through to the mid-level.
Upon seeing this, Lord Di Sha frowned slightly, letting out a cold snort that sounded like icicles snapping in the dead of winter: "Demon, how dare you harm people to increase your cultivation!" Before his words even finished, his figure had already transformed into a streak of light, shooting out with incredible speed. Wherever he passed, the air was sliced apart by his powerful aura, emitting sharp, piercing howls like the cries of demons. He no longer cared about the three captured constables; he had to deal with this cat demon as quickly as possible.
Seeing this, the three-tailed cat demon unleashed a chilling, piercing roar. The sound waves, like a surging tide, echoed wildly through the night sky, causing those around to nearly lose their hearing. Ning Xiaoxi couldn't help but cover her ears, and some of the others in the room collapsed and rolled on the ground in pain.
"You not only refuse to give me a way out, but you also blame me for absorbing living souls," the three-tailed cat demon said bitterly. "Sure enough, demons should absorb living souls to cultivate, so that they can bring us great power. I've been accumulating good deeds and virtues, hoping to achieve enlightenment through this, but it turns out it was all a lie." With that, it charged towards the remaining four prisoners hiding in the corner.
Just as its claws were about to reach the prisoners, several sharp swords suddenly flew from the side, their chilling aura sweeping in with the wind that melts snow and ice.
At the same time, two figures rushed past, carrying the prisoners away quickly.
The three-tailed cat demon dodged the sharp sword with a somersault, glared hatefully at the two Earthly Fiend officials, and helplessly held the hostage, leaping and bounding among the ruins, each jump kicking up a cloud of dust and broken bricks, trying to cause more people hiding indoors to escape, thus hindering the Earthly Fiend Lord's attack.
Unfortunately, apart from the few who were startled and went out at the beginning, the rest of them hid indoors like quails under the control of the constables, and no one escaped.
