Chapter 168 Going all out... Just this once

I was slurping noodles from a famous ramen shop when my cell phone started buzzing from Kitty Pryde. I couldn’t help but say in perfect Japanese. “Shōtaimu.”(Showtime.) God, all speech was such a fucking fun cheat power. Tossing yen on the counter I blip to the battlefield. Still eating the ramen as I look over the battlefield. Both sides engaged in a gigantic fight with the important members all splitting off the fight one on one.

That’s how you can tell it’s a comic book because one side isn’t overwhelming the other outright and the deaths are going to be much lower than the spectacle of the giant battlefield would allude to. The Marauders were broken off doing their own thing on the side, most likely making a completely different comic than the Black Panther comic that the real battlefield would take place on.

So the big question was did I help both, one or none? I mentally redirected a killing blow that would have struck Rose Wilson. Blinking over I give her a quick power boost since that side had the unfair advantage that the Marauders couldn’t kill them because they were just mind-controlled metahumans. I kept making similar small changes to the Marauder fight while not outright ending it instantly.

A blade passed straight through Kitty as she caught it on the other side of herself and blocked another blow from hitting Illyana as she fired off blasts that disabled many of the mutants. Orca was cut up and bleeding as she started to slow down until I slapped her on the back instantly healing her wounds and boosting her. The fight started to swing in their direction so I asked Kitty. “Mind if I go check out the battlefield elsewhere or do you still need my help?”

She phased through a big guy before yelling so I could hear her. “Boost me first then go!” I teleported over slapping her on the back. It wasn’t until I was teleporting around looking for anything interesting that I remembered and shouted out loud. “...FUCK! I used my other powers! There goes my self-imposed rule... Well, fuck it then. Full tryhard it is as punishment.”

Achebe’s Point of View

We were making good progress. The mix of starving prisoners, criminals, rebels, and mine and Doom’s voodoo magic golems were fighting on par with their ground forces while Doom’s cyborgs were taking on the elite troops and his doombots were attacking the flying vehicles keeping the battlefield locked in a stalemate. I began to chuckle because that was perfect. The more death the more power that Mephisto can siphon from their deaths.

My foot came down squashing his skull. As fun of a villain as he was. He was still a killer and an agent of Mephisto. Killing him was something that needed to be done otherwise many other lives would be lost. I stepped on his body and wiped his brain matter off onto his shirt before just biting the bullet and casting a cleaning spell to fully clean the blood off me.

I found the women villains and captured them but I was still looking for the leader. The doom cyborgs and Doombots were a clear sign of who the real enemy was for this war and he hadn’t shown himself yet. I was afraid I made the fight so uneven that Doom would run away. Doom was brave enough to fight gods but at the same time, he was smart enough to know when he was going into a losing fight. He normally has the knowledge or power to swing losing fights in his direction but that wasn’t going to happen this time.

T’Challa walked over with a group of his royal guards as I kept looking for Doom. He spoke with a smile on his face. “I assume it was you who tilted the battle in our favor then? Thanks to you we have won!” As if he was waiting I heard his voice and couldn’t help but smile. “YOU HAVE NOT WON! YOU’VE ONLY SLOWED YOUR DOOM!”

I couldn’t help but chuckle as I was proud he stuck around even while completely outnumbered by an army and a mystery person who thwarted his plans. Doom was here for the vibranium... I was surprised he brought his smoking-hot mother with him as well.
