Chapter 148 Pursuit
Chapter 148 Pursuit
Lin Zi held back her tears, smiled and nodded.
Lin Feng turned and walked towards the boat, his steps firm and powerful. After boarding the boat, he picked up the oars and rowed towards the sea.
Lu Hai and Lin Zi took Lu Bing to the beach, their eyes closely following Lin Feng's figure.
"Lin Feng, take care!" Lu Hai shouted loudly.
Lin Feng looked back and waved.
The sea breeze blew his hair, and his figure seemed a little small in the waves, but full of courage and determination.
When Lin Feng had rowed some distance away, Lu Hai and Lin Zi were still standing there, waving at him.
Lin Zi's eyes were full of concern and worry, and her lips trembled slightly.
"I hope he can find his way back safely." Lin Zi said softly.
Lu Hai patted Lin Zi's shoulder gently and comforted her, "Yes, Brother Lin Feng will be able to do it."
At this moment, Lin Zi leaned on Lu Hai's shoulder unconsciously. Lu Hai was slightly startled, and then a gentle and firm expression appeared on his face.
He recalled the days he spent with his master, when his master always took him fishing and taught him various survival skills. However, a sudden storm took his master's life, leaving Lin Zi and Lu Bing alone.
From then on, Lu Hai made up his mind to take good care of his master's wife and Lu Bing to repay his master's kindness.
At first, someone in the village suggested that Lin Zi remarry him, but Lin Zi firmly disagreed, believing it would be a betrayal of her master. Lu Hai himself felt unable to cross the psychological gap and could not accept the love between him and his master's wife.
However, as time went by, Lu Hai gradually found that his feelings for Lin Zi had changed as they spent time together day after day. He no longer regarded Lin Zi as just his teacher's wife, but as a woman who moved his heart.
Lin Zi, raising her child alone, was exhausted by the hardships of life. Lu Hai's attentive care and silent dedication gradually melted her heart.
Now, at this moment of bidding farewell to Lin Feng, Lin Zi finally let go of the burden in her heart, and Lu Hai was already prepared to accept this relationship.
Lu Bing held his mother's hand, his eyes fixed on the direction where Lin Feng was walking away. He didn't quite understand the complex emotions between adults, but he could feel that this moment was unusual.
"Mom, will Brother Lin Feng come back?" Lu Bing asked.
Lin Zi squatted down and hugged Lu Bing gently: "Yes, baby, Brother Lin Feng will definitely come back."
Lin Feng paddled hard on the sea, the waves pounding against the boat. He gazed into the distance, feeling lost and fearful about the unknown journey ahead. But when he thought of the kind people on Xihuang Island, he felt a surge of strength.
"No matter how many difficulties lie ahead, I will find my way back." Lin Feng swore secretly in his heart.
The sea sparkled, and the boat drifted away in the waves. On the shore of Xihuang Island, Lu Hai and Lin Zi still stood quietly, looking in the direction where Lin Feng disappeared, unwilling to leave for a long time.
The sea breeze gradually grew cooler at night, and the sky was lit up by twinkling stars.
Lu Hai said softly: "Lin Zi, let's go back."
Lin Zi nodded, and the three of them walked slowly towards the village hand in hand. Their figures looked so harmonious in the moonlight, as if foreshadowing a beautiful life in the future.
After returning home, Lin Zi sat in front of the window, looking at the night sky outside, with a lot of thoughts in her mind.
Lu Hai walked over and gently held her hand.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine." Lu Hai said.
Lin Zi turned her head and looked at Lu Hai, tears in her eyes.
"Lu Hai, thank you." Lin Zi said.
Lu Hai smiled slightly: "This is what I should do."
A blazing sun hung high above the vast ocean, its scorching rays pouring down relentlessly. The waves surged, pounding against a lone boat. Lin Feng sat in the middle of the boat, his gaze fixed firmly eastward, the sea breeze rustling his clothes. His face was filled with anxiety and impatience, his brow furrowed, and beads of sweat on his forehead gleamed in the sunlight.
"Xu Tian, you must hold on! I can't let anything happen to you," Lin Feng muttered to himself, paddling the oars ever more rapidly, pouring every ounce of strength into the effort. His heart was filled with regret and worry. His time on Xihuang Island had wasted far too much time. He knew all too well the cruelty and ruthlessness of the Nine Emperors Pavilion. Xu Tian was probably in imminent danger.
Meanwhile, in a distant land, amidst a dense jungle, Ma Ziyan supported Xu Tian as they trudged forward. Sunlight filtered through the layers of leaves, casting dappled shadows on them. Ma Ziyan's hair, damp with sweat, plastered to her cheeks, her eyes revealing a resolute and unyielding spirit.
Xu Tian's face was as pale as paper, and every step he took seemed incredibly difficult. His wound throbbed with pain from the constant movement, and blood seeped through the bandage, staining his clothes red.
"Zi Yan, let me go. If you go by yourself, you still have a chance to escape." Xu Tian said weakly, panting.
Ma Ziyan glared at him, her voice filled with anger and determination: "What nonsense! I will never abandon you."
Xu Tian smiled bitterly and shook his head: "My injury will only drag you down."
"Stop saying such discouraging things. As long as we don't stop, there will be hope." Ma Zi Yan said as she quickened her pace.
Behind them, dozens of servants from the Chu family were chasing them like ghosts.
"Chase them! Don't let them run away!" A strong man in the lead shouted loudly, his eyes full of ferocity and greed.
"Brother, these two run pretty fast." A thin man said breathlessly.
"Hmph, even if you run to the ends of the earth, you can't escape from our grasp." The strong man said viciously.
Ma Ziyan glanced back, her heart tightening: "Xu Tian, we have to go faster."
Xu Tian gritted his teeth and tried hard to keep up with Ma Ziyan's pace: "I'll try my best..."
The temperature in the jungle rose higher and higher, like a huge steamer. Ma Ziyan and Xu Tian's clothes were already soaked with sweat, and every breath became hot and heavy.
"Zi Yan, I... I really can't walk anymore." Xu Tian's voice trembled, his legs went weak, and he almost fell down.
Ma Ziyan quickly supported him: "Xu Tian, hold on! There's a stream ahead, let's go drink some water and replenish our energy."
The two came to the stream, and Ma Ziyan scooped up water with both hands and fed it to Xu Tian.
"Drink slowly, don't be in a hurry." Ma Zi Yan said softly.
Xu Tian drank a few sips of water and felt a little stronger: "Zi Yan, thank you."
Ma Ziyan smiled slightly: "You're welcome, let's keep going."
However, before they could get up, the shouts of the Chu family's servants came again.
"Over there! Chase!"
