Chapter 21 Deliberation
Chapter 21 Deliberation
The two brothers returned to the same interview room. Wei Hongbo found the materials about Li Yunxiang, turned to the medical examination records, and found two records from this year.
One is a routine physical examination done at the hospital in late January; the other is an electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring record from February 21 to 22.
His focus hadn't been on this before, so he hadn't noticed it. But now that he saw it, he found it a bit strange, so he called Wu Wenjun aside and asked him about it.
"Our company does not allow people with a history of epilepsy to hold the position of environmental maintenance worker. EEG monitoring is a test for this condition," Wu Wenjun explained. "Our company's EEG monitoring equipment is more sensitive and easier to use than the equipment in hospitals."
"Why do we have to do it for two days in a row?"
"Actually, it's one night, because we need to do sleep EEG monitoring. It's said to be more accurate this way, but I don't know the specific principle behind it."
Wei Hongbo looked at Wei Hongsi, who then said, "It's not easy to detect abnormal brain waves when epilepsy is not present, but epileptiform discharges can be activated during sleep."
Wei Hongbo nodded and continued to look through Li Yunxiang's medical examination records.
She has undergone seven sleep EEG monitoring sessions over the past three and a half years, which explains why Wistron is so certain that she has no history of epilepsy.
Behind every outrageous regulation, there's often something even more outrageous. The fact that Zhiwei Company is so meticulous in this regard suggests that something must have happened in the past.
He didn't want to delve into things unrelated to the case. The focus was on Li Yunxiang's changes, which indeed occurred after her medical check-up in February.
After a moment's thought, Wei Hongbo asked, "If this accident hadn't happened, when would Li Yunxiang's next EEG monitoring session be?"
Wu Wenjun said, "It's probably late July or early August."
Wei Hongbo nodded, then asked, "Where is your company's General Manager Meng now?"
"He's been staying at the company recently." Wu Wenjun felt a little uneasy after saying that, so he added, "It's for work-related reasons."
"We'll go over there later. I need to see President Meng. Please make the necessary preparations." Wei Hongbo didn't press the issue.
To be fair, Meng Haolin was indeed under house arrest, but if it was a work arrangement made by the company for him, and Meng Haolin himself was willing to cooperate, then no one else could say anything.
By this time, the relevant inquiries and record-keeping work had been largely completed.
Wei Hongbo called the people from both companies together, gave them some more instructions, and then told them to go home.
The people from both companies came out of the Criminal Investigation Division's office building, their expressions somewhat solemn.
Although the biggest hidden danger, Plan B, has been uncovered and the police have launched an investigation, from the company's perspective, commercial interests are the highest priority, and whether the case can be solved as soon as possible is not very important.
Their primary concern is how to resolve the immediate crisis; otherwise, even if they catch the mastermind, it won't be enough to make up for the losses.
Whether it's Paradise Beverages or Zhiwei Technology, there's no difference in this respect.
Jiang Kai said to Pang Weizhi, "Mr. Pang, would you like to sit a little longer and grab something to eat?"
Pang Weizhi pondered for a moment, then nodded and said, "I'll follow General Manager Jiang's arrangements."
"Then let's go to our company," Jiang Kai said, looking at Wu Wenjun. "Please help arrange it, Mr. Wu."
"No problem, let's go straight to the company cafeteria." Wu Wenjun agreed, then asked Wei Hongsi, "Engineer Wei, where are you planning to go?"
Wei Hongsi said, "I'm going back to the company too."
He also has a timed task that he needs to complete on his own, which requires the help of the company's equipment.
So the group split into three cars and headed to the Zhiwei Technology Building.
On the way, Wu Wenjun made arrangements for the restaurant and reported the situation to Ji Yongsheng.
After hearing this, Ji Yongsheng said, "Then I will receive Mr. Pang from the amusement park, and you will coordinate with the police investigation into Mr. Meng."
That was exactly what Wu Wenjun meant.
Having Ji Yongsheng step forward serves two purposes: firstly, it is in accordance with Pang Weizhi's status, which is a basic social etiquette; secondly, if it involves some major decisions, Ji Yongsheng can make the final decision directly.
After hanging up the phone, Wu Wenjun said to Wei Hongsi, "Engineer Wei, thank you so much for this trip."
Wei Hongsi said, "Mr. Wu, you're too kind. This is just my duty."
Wu Wenjun called Wei Hongsi, intending to ask him to answer some technical questions. However, during the police questioning, they almost never encountered this situation.
However, he noticed that Wei Hongsi and Wei Hongbo were not around for a period of time, which meant that the two brothers had obviously discussed some issues.
He wouldn't blame Wei Hongsi for choosing to communicate privately. On the contrary, there were some internal company matters that didn't need to be known by the people at the amusement park, but couldn't be hidden during a police investigation.
Therefore, in his view, Wei Hongsi had played a very good role, and even far exceeded his expectations because of his relationship with Wei Hongbo.
It was already past 8 p.m., past the evening rush hour, but we arrived at the underground parking lot of the Zhiwei Technology Building in just over ten minutes.
After everyone got off the car, Ji Cheng came over to Wei Hongsi: "Engineer Wei, can we sit together for a while? I have some things I'd like to ask you."
"You flatter me, Mr. Ji, you're too kind." Wei Hongsi was just about to ask Ji Cheng for some information, and this was exactly what he wanted.
Wu Wenjun apologized to Pang Weizhi and took Liu Zhifeng to the main building to wait for Wei Hongbo.
Jiang Kai then led the others to a private room prepared on the third floor of the restaurant, where Ji Yongsheng was already waiting.
After introductions and brief pleasantries, Pang Weizhi started the conversation: "This new beverage that we launched this summer is the most important project for the amusement park group this year. We have invested more than 5 million yuan in it, not even taking into account the time cost."
"This Saturday morning, we will hold a new product launch event at Yuexiu Plaza, and at the same time, we will hold promotional events in commercial landmarks in more than 20 major cities across the country to generate buzz for the new product launch. At that time, the advertising campaign will also be fully rolled out. Counting the days, we have less than 36 hours left to make adjustments."
He didn't spell it out explicitly, but everyone understood his meaning. The amusement park's beverage offerings would only be delayed under extreme circumstances, and the GG issue clearly wasn't one of those.
Ji Yongsheng asked, "President Pang, does your company have any contingency plans?"
Pang Weizhi sighed softly and said, "There are some, but they will leave behind a lot of hidden dangers." He then shook his head.
Ji Cheng said, "Chief Ji, our GG procurement process usually involves selecting at least three suppliers. The four proposals we commissioned you to analyze this time have all been contracted with us by the production companies. Apart from proposal B, the other three proposals are our contingency plans."
Ji Yongsheng nodded slowly.
Although he wasn't in charge of marketing, he understood after hearing Ji Cheng's explanation.
