Chapter 88: Unsolved
Chapter 88: Unsolved
Now that the rescue team had arrived, there was nothing more for Lin Shushu to do. She left quietly, just as she had come, without anyone knowing.
After providing emergency treatment to the wounds of several people, the rescuers took the team back to their base in the mining area, as their injuries required further treatment.
The bizarre events that happened to An Yuanheng were also reported to Fang Hongzhang, the military commander stationed on J56.
"You mean he can float in the air without any external force?" Fang Hongzhang became interested after hearing his subordinate's report.
"Yes, the site has been inspected, and there are no traces of technology," the subordinate continued to report.
"What did that young man say?" Fang Hongzhang continued to ask.
"He was completely baffled and couldn't explain it himself." The subordinate glanced at Fang Hongzhang, seemingly guessing what he would ask next, and added, "We questioned other people at the scene and confirmed that the situation only occurred at the last minute."
Upon hearing his subordinate's words, Fang Hongzhang remained noncommittal but did not press the matter further. He waved his hand, and the subordinate, understanding, took his leave.
Unable to get any results, Fang Hongzhang simply put the matter aside, after all, it wasn't a big deal. What troubled him now was that, because of the theft of the Lin family's ore, the Lin family had put pressure on him, demanding that he find the suspects.
Fang Hongzhang rubbed his temples. He had already dispatched a considerable number of people to handle this matter over the past two days, but without any progress. J56 was an undeveloped planet to begin with, and due to its mineral resources, it was a melting pot of all sorts of people, making it extremely difficult to identify suspicious individuals.
Now, with the emergence of strange beasts, there aren't enough people to even patrol, which is why we're recruiting community resources to participate in the cleanup operation.
Fortunately, no one in the squad that was attacked today was killed, otherwise the consequences would have been much worse.
At the mining area's base, after the medical staff gave An Yuanheng a thorough examination, he immediately wanted to return to the hotel, otherwise his sister would worry.
"Yuanheng, you should stay and observe further. Internal injuries aren't easy to heal," Lu Xiang advised from his resting bed, and the others echoed his sentiments.
To be honest, apart from Li Fei whose injuries were relatively minor, the others had a brush with death this time, especially Lu Xiang, Luo Yuan, and Yang Feng, who didn't even have the strength to stand up.
Although it was a temporary team, by the end of the day, everyone had a general understanding of each other's character.
Despite the perilous situation today, not a single person backed down. It was precisely because everyone gave their all and looked after each other that they received rescue and were able to return here safely.
As the saying goes, true friendship is revealed in times of adversity. After this incident, the feelings between the group quickly warmed up, and none of them wanted any delay in treatment to have any impact on their future.
Hearing everyone's advice, An Yuanheng felt very comforted. These newly acquainted partners were all of good character and worth getting to know better.
"I'm really fine now. I can take care of the internal injuries when I get back. My sister is still waiting for me at the hotel. She'll be worried if I don't go back for so long."
After hearing his words, the others stopped trying to persuade him, but all said they would do their best to help if needed.
After thanking his teammates for their kindness, An Yuanheng hurriedly returned to the hotel. His external injuries had been treated, and the severity of his injuries was no longer visible. He should be able to fool his sister.
As soon as he returned to the hotel entrance, An Xiaojie, who had been waiting there, spotted him immediately and ran over to look him up and down.
"Brother, are you alright? I heard that a level 5 monster appeared in the mining area. A small team ran into it and their fate is unknown."
Hearing his sister's words, An Yuanheng's heart tightened, but he reassured her as if nothing had happened, "I'm fine. Our team didn't encounter any strange beasts today." After saying that, he even walked around in front of his sister, just in case she didn't believe him.
Seeing him like this, An Xiaojie finally felt relieved. "Brother, do you know what happened to that team that encountered the level 5 beast? I heard they all died. Is that true? That was too dangerous."
An Yuanheng, who was rumored to be dead, choked. He knew he couldn't let his sister know that it was his team that encountered the strange beast.
"Xiaojie, don't listen to what others are saying. The people in that team are all alive and well. Because the rescue came in time, they only suffered some injuries and their lives are not in danger."
That being said, An Yuanheng knew that he almost didn't make it back today. Fortunately, for some unknown reason, the Fiery Wolf stopped slapping his head when he was powerless to resist.
Even at the last moment, he inexplicably floated out from under the Flame Wolf's body, dodging the fatal blow of the energy cannon.
An Yuanheng was completely baffled by what happened today, so when the rescuers asked him for the specific reason, he couldn't give a clear answer.
Hearing that all the team members were safe and sound, An Xiaojie breathed a sigh of relief. Although she didn't know those people, the thought that their families would worry about them just as much as she worried about her brother made her not want anything to happen to anyone, otherwise their families would be so heartbroken.
"Brother, a level 5 beast appeared today. Are you still going tomorrow?" An Xiaojie asked with some concern.
Seeing the worry that his younger sister couldn't hide in her eyes, An Yuanheng felt a pang of sadness. Today's events had indeed frightened his sister. He wondered how she had gotten through the day, especially after sending him so many messages without receiving a response.
"Don't worry, Xiaojie, I won't be going for the next two days." An Yuanheng patted his sister's head to reassure her.
Sure enough, upon hearing his reply, An Xiaojie immediately perked up. She changed from her previous sullenness and began to talk enthusiastically about what she had done that day.
“Brother, I talked a lot with Sister Shushu today, and that’s when I realized that Sister Shushu actually has the same surname as the person my great-aunt married.”
"You're only just realizing this now? I noticed it when she introduced herself." An Yuanheng smiled indulgently at his younger sister's belated realization.
As if remembering something, An Yuanheng asked, "Did you tell Sister Shushu about your great-aunt today?"
"Yes, I was just worried about you, so I started chatting about things, and we ended up talking about our family, including my great-aunt." An Xiaojie replied casually.
"Xiao Jie, don't easily tell others about your affairs in the future," An Yuanheng said seriously, his smile fading.
Sensing the seriousness in his words, An Xiaojie blinked. "But Sister Shushu isn't just anyone!"
An Yuanheng knew that his younger sister liked Lin Shushu very much, but he did not expect her to like her so much that she had placed her among her own people.
He could only helplessly advise, "You can't be so careless with other people in the future."
"Of course, I'm not stupid. I can tell who's truly sincere towards me." An Xiaojie smiled proudly at her brother, her eyes crinkling.
"So you told Sister Shushu about your great-aunt's matter, what was her reaction?"
Although she didn't understand why her brother asked that question, An Xiaojie still told him about Lin Shushu's reaction at the time.
"The reaction? Anyone who hears a story like that would be moved. Sister Shushu's eyes were red at the time."
