Chapter 148 New Floor new..
"But I guess you guys already know this," he said as Leon nodded. "Staying in the Tower doesn't mean death. No, rather, it means getting kicked out of the Tower. Only by acquiring a rare legendary-grade treasure can you jump back in. Otherwise, you can say goodbye to easy ascension in the Tower. Compared to the outside world, where death means death, this is still a better fate."
They nodded as the Director then asked for their Ascender cards.
"What about these two?" the Director asked, looking at Roman and Roselia.
"My knight and my familiar-cum-girlfriend," Leon said, causing the Director to nod in understanding.
"Alright, here you go," the Director said, registering them on the Fifth Floor. "You guys can roam freely and also take quests here."
Leon nodded, taking back the Ascender card.
"Happy ascending," the Director said as they left.
As they came out of the Director's office, they looked around. The bustling Tower Association was just as lively as it had been on the First Floor.
"So, what now?" Milim asked.
Leaning on the railing, Leon replied, "Well, let's get our first quest here."
They all nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, at a short distance from them, two humans observed Leon and his group from afar.
"Are they the newbies?" a girl among the pair asked.
The other, a guy who seemed like her follower, nodded. "Yes, they are the new Ascenders we detected."
"Good," the girl grinned as she began walking toward them.
As the girl approached, Leon's group took note of her appearance. She had long silver hair tied in a loose ponytail, sharp emerald eyes, and a confident smirk on her face. She wore a sleek, black and gold combat outfit, adorned with a badge that marked her affiliation.
Leon instantly recognized the insignia—a golden dragon claw gripping a tower. It was the symbol of Draconis Fangs, one of the top guilds on the Fifth Floor.
"Looks like we've caught the attention of some big shots already," Roselia muttered.
The girl stopped in front of them, crossing her arms. "You're the new Ascenders, huh?" she asked, scanning each of them with an appraising gaze.
Leon simply nodded.
She smiled. "I'm Selene Valtor, a recruiter for Draconis Fangs. Our guild keeps an eye on promising newcomers, and you guys seem... interesting."
Leon raised an eyebrow. "And? What does that mean for us?"
Selene smirked. "It means I'm here to offer you an invitation. Our guild doesn't accept just anyone, but you've already made a name for yourselves—even before reaching this city. We'd rather have you with us than see you become potential rivals."
Leon exchanged glances with his team. Joining a top guild would come with advantages, but it would also mean obligations. He needed to know more before making a decision.
"What's in it for us?" he asked, keeping his tone neutral.
With that, the group left the lounge and made their way back downstairs to the main hall of the Tower Association. The Mission Board was a massive holographic screen, displaying various quests ranked by difficulty—ranging from D-rank to S-rank.
Leon scanned the options.
[A-Rank] Subjugate the Crimson Fang Bandits – A dangerous gang causing havoc outside the city.
[B-Rank] Investigate the Ruins of Tal'Varr – Reports of strange creatures appearing near an ancient ruin.
[C-Rank] Escort Merchant Caravan – A merchant requires protection while traveling to another settlement.
Milim pointed at the A-Rank mission. "This one sounds fun!"
Roman sighed. "You just want to fight, don't you?"
Milim grinned. "Duh!"
Leon chuckled. "We'll take it then. Bandits shouldn't be too hard, and we'll get a feel for how strong people on this floor really are."
He pressed his Ascender Card against the mission interface, accepting the quest. A notification popped up, providing detailed information about the bandits' last known location.
Roselia tightened the strap of her sword. "Let's get moving then. No point in wasting time."
With their first mission set, Leon and his team left the Tower Association, stepping out into the vast cityscape of the Fifth Floor—ready for their next challenge.
Since the Mission was located near fifth Floor Capital City Velka, they went there first.
As they moved through the bustling streets of the Fifth Floor's capital city, Velka, Leon's group took in their surroundings. Unlike the lower floors, the architecture here was more advanced, blending medieval fantasy with early industrial elements—stone buildings reinforced with steel, magically powered street lamps, and armored guards patrolling in squads.
The people were noticeably stronger as well. Almost everyone carried high-tier weapons, wore enchanted gear, and exuded strong mana signatures. Unlike the Adventurers of the lower floors, everyone here was an Ascender, each climbing the Tower for power, glory, or survival.
"This place feels... different," Roselia muttered, keeping her hand on her sword.
Leon nodded. "Yeah. It's not just a city; it's a battlefield where only the strongest survive."
Roman smirked. "Exactly why we fit right in."
As they walked, a few Ascenders turned to look at them, sensing that they were newcomers. Some gazes were indifferent, others curious, and a few even hostile. It was clear that in Velka, new Ascenders were seen as either future rivals or potential prey.
"We should move quickly," Liliana suggested. "The longer we stay in the open, the higher the chance someone picks a fight with us just to test their strength."
Leon agreed. "Let's head straight to the bandits' last known location."
Mission: Subjugate the Crimson Fang Bandits
Target: Crimson Fang Bandit Group
Leader: Raldos the Crimson Wolf
Location: Eastern Ruins, 12 km outside Velka
Objective: Eliminate or capture the bandit leader and clear out the gang.
