Chapter 1997 - 1014: Such a Dragon King

"I really am foolish, truly."

"I simply marveled at Elsa’s abilities, that a mortal could keep up with my pace, considering it a miracle and smugly thinking I had struck gold, yet I never pondered the improbabilities within."

Listening to the soft murmurs of God King Sister beside her ear, Dorothy’s eyes widened in shock, and she immediately began to self-reflect in this manner.

However, it couldn’t entirely be blamed on her for not realizing it, after all, to her, the 300 years in the Chessboard World are merely half an hour, during which she genuinely focused solely on how to better cultivate and plan the progress route, really having no time to think about anything else.

Even for her, various extreme micro-operations within such a short time were somewhat challenging. If it weren’t for the support of Multitasking, she might have been in chaos.

Yet, no matter how many reasons there were, Dorothy had to admit that God King Sister’s scolding was indeed justified.

Her plan was theoretically the optimal solution, yet she forgot that expecting mortals to always remain rational is in itself a luxury.

"Damn, asking a devout believer to kill deities with their own hands, Little Five, you really are a genius."

Dorothy couldn’t help but sarcastically critique the genius-like logic she had under her Moon God state.

Although, from a generally rational standpoint, it indeed was the optimal solution.

After all, it was impossible for a group of mortals to shake the game rules in this Chessboard World; it’s not something achievable with mere human effort over a few hundred years, something only the Goddess of the Moon and Fire, already the sole faith of all beings, could accomplish.

Yet, as an outsider chess player, Dorothy evidently couldn’t always support and guide this world. She only had 30 minutes of gameplay, and after the game was done, she was to leave, thus making her, this god, unreliable too.

Therefore, in the Moon God’s plan, she, this god, was actually a faith bomb that accumulated power for 300 years, meant to self-detonate at the end, simultaneously withdrawing after success, to aid Winter Empire one last time, using this 300 years of Divine Power to directly destroy the chessboard rules, thus severing the chains binding this world, allowing it to regain freedom.

Moreover, this act of a believer killing a god with their own hands was also a ritual to shatter the idol within hearts. Miss Moon Goddess hoped Elsa and the others would henceforth strive for self-reliance, continuing to forge ahead.

She believed they could achieve it; after all, the establishment of Winter Empire was a miracle these mortals themselves created, and she, this goddess, merely guided the way, providing no further assistance, as those technological advancements were their own research results.

Thus, the "God-killing plan" could be seen as a perfect plan killing three birds with one stone, the only issue being...

Well, just as God King Sister scolded, Miss Moon Goddess overestimated the capacity of human hearts.

This inevitably reminded Dorothy of the traits composing the Moon Goddess Incarnation.

Beauty, gentle motherhood, ruthless decisiveness, military strategy leadership, Heart of Steel... and finally, the rusticity.

It indeed was ruthless enough, decisive enough, but that unyielding Heart of Steel, not everyone possesses it.

It seems Miss Moon Goddess indeed somewhat misunderstood human hearts.

She thought that everything had actually been agreed upon with Elsa long ago, that Elsa knew about the god-killing plan for a long time, and that through these 300 years of psychological preparation, this comrade sharing the same faith would surely make the right choice.

However, the Moon God overlooked one essential point, which was that the agreement was made just after they met, with no emotions involved, but after so many years of accompanying, what kind of emotions Elsa, this mortal, might have towards her, the ever-correct World-Saving Goddess, became ambiguous.

And once emotions were involved, even the most rational individuals could turn emotional, making it uncertain whether the promise given easily years ago could still be perfectly carried out.

Dorothy gradually understood everything.

Though she long anticipated that this scheming Little Five might cause trouble for her, she truly didn’t expect that in just playing a game of chess, it would anger God King Sister in person, a level of troublemaking even Little Four Fairy King couldn’t match by far.

But speaking of which, why did God King Sister’s human incarnation appear in Estelle’s Chessboard World?

The Homebody Witch suddenly realized this key point.

She immediately furrowed her brows, her Inspiration told her, this was very strange, as if a Conspiracy was afoot, and she felt as though she was arranged by someone.

Yet she didn’t dwell too deeply on it for the moment, as the urgent matter at hand was to first soothe the anger of God King Sister before her.

"Denisha, if I say that all this was actually caused by the Incarnation, would you believe me?"

Dorothy asked earnestly in this manner.

On the other side, as the golden Dragon Eyes fled guiltily, the furious glare of Lord God also gradually cooled, releasing his tightly held sister, and without the slightest soft-heartedness, replied.

"The Incarnation is also a part of you, and since the Incarnation made such a choice, it indicates that you yourself, facing the same situation, would most likely make the same choice."

The real Denisha is not as easygoing as the Shepherdess Denisha, having once lost everything made her heart harder than steel, not something to be easily swayed or fooled.
