Chapter 637: The King and The Exile

Chapter 637: The King and The Exile

BOOM!

A massive explosion rocked the castle grounds as Mark blasted towards the guards standing in front of the throne room! James immediately cried out for Mark to stop so that they could talk things out, but Mark didn’t even bother listening to him! Mark pulled back his hand and blue lightning danced across the hallway!

[Critical Hit]!

[Sonic Impact: Lightning]!

BOOM!!

...

[Inside The Throne Room.]

BOOM!@@@@

A massive force impacted against the door leading to the throne room and Ephraim shuffled nervously as he saw the guards standing around them getting into position. Ephraim might be one of the highest-ranking angels in the kingdom, but that does not mean he was the strongest angel. Ephraim didn’t even have enough power to be regarded as an A-tier fighter and most of his power in the kingdom comes from his relationship to the king as an advisor.

So the situation right now was very nerve-wracking for him.

But regardless of how terrified Ephraim was, there was nothing they could do but wait as the door flew open to reveal the demon lord on the other side. Ephraim never thought he would ever witness a day like this.

A single person just bulldozed through hundreds of soldiers and made their way to the king’s chambers. It was something nearly impossible, and if he wasn’t witnessing it right now, he would have never believed it happened!

"Yo, advisor. I see you’re still alive too. And you must be the king. Wow, you really are a kid."

The king was hiding behind more than ten guards who were all pointing their weapons at Mark. Mark put a hand in his pocket and waved away some of the smoke in front of him as he glanced around calmly. Ephraim was the first person to speak up.

"Your advisor over there came to the meeting I was supposed to have with you. In that meeting, I gave him the chance to end this war. I proposed peace between the two races. A simple and straightforward conclusion to the war that would see both sides go their separate ways without any issues. But he threw it in my face. He brought up enough pointless conditions to make me want to kill him where he stands. And I realized something at that moment. You don’t want peace, do you? None of you do. You enjoy this fucking war. You all think that you’re the shit that came out of some golden dog’s ass, so you want to kill every single race that could oppose you. Am I wrong?"

Mark glared at the child king in front of him. If Mark heard even a single word to confirm what it was that he just said, then Mark was going to kill him. Mark didn’t care that it was a child, neither did he care that there were soldiers around. Mark was going to kill him and then talk to someone else who had more sense.

Having a child as a king was already bad enough, but if the child was too easily influenced and did not have the ability to speak for himself, then there was no point in reasoning with such a king.

King Richard looked from side to side as he tried to think of something to say. He glanced towards Ephraim, but Mark’s aura pressing down on Ephraim prevented the advisor from being able to speak to the king, so the king finally turned back to Mark and began to think.

Why did he want to fight against the demons?

The king thought about this for a few minutes all on his own. After a long while, Mark started to get irritated and he grimaced in annoyance and scratched the back of his head before sighing. Mark was about to say something, but before he could the king spoke up.

"The demons took everything from us. They took our land, they destroyed our homes, and they raped our mothers and sisters. They took my family from me. My mother and brother were murdered in cold blood and my father was tortured right in front of my eyes. I saw all of this, but I could do nothing because I was scared and weak. I had to escape to continue ruling the country. The demons deserve to be eradicated."

Mark narrowed his eyes at the king as he heard him say all this, and once the king was finished, silence reigned in the room for a long while. The king wondered if Mark appreciated his answer or not, and they all waited to see what Mark would do next.

Mark eventually relaxed his shoulders and the people in the room all released silent breaths as they felt Mark’s aura reducing in intensity.

Mark gave the king a hard look, like a father talking to his child.

"And how many of the demons have you killed in this quest for revenge?"

The king narrowed his eyes at Mark childishly.

"We are doing what is necessary for the future of our people. The demons started this war and they have done far worse things to us. Your people have done far worse."

Mark scoffed.
