Chapter 122 The Trials [ 9 ]

As I lie there, I use my imagination to add animals large enough for the draco to hunt and eat. The more the draco enjoys the draco, the less guilt I feel about killing it. The anger I feel towards whoever created the evidence and trapped the drake does not fade at all.

If the drake had been a creation or a normal monster, it wouldn't bother me. But the drake was real and intelligent, it didn't deserve to be trapped in a room for who knows how long. I sleep for days, which is fine since it's only hours in evidence and minutes out. When I wake up I feel very refreshed and a little fuzzy. I feel a weight on my legs and my head is not resting on the grass.

I open my eyes and first look down to see what is on my legs, only to find the drake sleeping with his head on my legs. When I look up to see what my head is resting on, I get a much bigger surprise. My head is resting on Krenocia's lap, and when I look at her I blush.

Krenocia says, "Good morning!".

"Ah, good morning?"

Krenocia says "You've been through a lot since we last spoke."

"Yeah, I guess so, is that why you're here?"

Krenocia says "Actually no, there are two reasons I'm here. One is the trials you're going through, the other is him."

As she says this, she points to the draco, who opens one eye to look at her. Now that I know he's not asleep, I reach out a hand and start petting him, earning a grunt of happiness.

"What's wrong with him?

Krenocia says "He's an older monster, so when his soul didn't immediately come to my realm I was worried."

"I'm sorry for interfering, I was just showing you my regret for killing him."

Krenocia says "You're definitely weird, Klein."

As I'm about to move my head from her lap she starts stroking my head, so I freeze. It's one thing for a beautiful woman to stroke your hair, it's quite another for a goddess to do it. I just lie there in absolute ecstasy until she stops laughing.

Krenocia says: "Haha, you were purring!".

"So what will happen to him now?".

"Is that why you are able to be here without being all transparent like last time?".

Krenocia says "Yes, even without a clear temple your actions have given my sister and I a decent power boost."

"That's a good thing, right?"

Krenocia says "Yes, power is a good thing. However, you being in the trials is a bad thing."

"Because I'm not a demigod?"

Krenocia says "Yes, because only a god can pass the final test."

"Phew, do you know what the final test is?"

Krenocia says "Yes, the final test is to escape the barrier."

"You mean the barrier I came through?"

Krenocia says "Yes. That barrier must be broken or knocked down before you can get out. My sister and I can't get through it, so we can't help you."

"Why would it be so hard?"

Krenocia says "As I said the tests are meant to elevate a worthy demigod into a god. The last test is to make sure they can control their power or control the orb enough to escape."

"Orb? What orb?"

Krenocia says "Arkat's orb, if you were to open your eyes right now you could see it through the open doors of the room you are in."

"Could you use the orb to pass the final test?".

Krenocia says "No. Unfortunately it takes divine power to make the orb work. Not even my sister, as she is now, could operate it. If all the temples were clear she could do it, but even then it would take several decades to figure it out."

"So my only option is to break through the barrier somehow?"

Krenocia says, "Yes. While I won't say it's impossible, considering how many impossible things you've already done, it's highly unlikely. I'm sorry, but you'll most likely die down there."
