Chapter 41 Choosing a Club
Chapter 41 Choosing a Club
And so, a week passed, and aside from training, I did almost nothing. Because I was powerless at the moment, my skills were still insufficient, so I had to make sure I trained enough.
Today also marks the end of my continuous use of training serums. Since their effects only reach their peak within two weeks, continuing to use them would be more harmful than beneficial. Therefore, this is the last day.
"Huff... huff..." I gasped for breath on the academy's training ground. I had just finished a round of physical training, and because I had pushed my body to its limit, my whole body ached.
“My strength has indeed increased. It seems that the ‘Life Essence’ is working.”
By raising the upper limit of my physical attributes, I was finally able to increase my strength and constitution.
"Status." I murmured to myself, and a panel appeared.

As shown on the panel, my attributes have improved significantly. This is both a result of rigorous training and an effect of 'Life Essence'.
In addition to raising the potential of my talents, it also makes the attribute improvement process smoother. This means I can adapt to new powers more quickly and integrate into training better.
"Hey, can we talk?"
Just as I was about to leave the training ground, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind me. I had already sensed his presence, but I didn't think he meant to look for me.
I turned around and saw those sharp brown eyes staring at me. His wavy blue hair was soaked with sweat; he was clearly training here too.
He slung the spear over his back and looked at me with a serious expression.
It's Ethan, the main character in the game.
Seeing his expression, it was obvious why he had come to me. It was because of what happened recently in the close combat course.
“I think what you did back then was wrong,” he said, his gaze fixed on me. It was so bright it almost made me feel uncomfortable.
This guy is still living in his own imagined, wonderful world.
“You should respect her choice. She cried in the end, are you satisfied with this outcome?” Ethan questioned me, his eyes filled with concern.
In a sense, he was not wrong; what he said was clearly a more humane approach.
"You can't even slightly..."
But that doesn’t mean I need to listen to others preach to me.
“Don’t talk to me,” I interrupted him. I don’t believe that respect and gentleness alone are enough to survive in this world.
Moreover, his tone reminded me of her, and the image of her chest being pierced by sharp claws flashed through my mind again.
Feeling frustrated, I instinctively clenched my fists.
"what?"
"Don't talk to me anymore." After saying that, I left the dumbfounded Ethan and went straight to my room.
My body is in excruciating pain, and I'm both mentally and physically exhausted. Therefore, I don't want to deal with any so-called 'hero' anymore.
So I went back to my room and immediately took a bath with the special herbs I had bought myself.
Right now, I have enough funds to invest in some things. I can leave the academy to hunt, but I also need to increase my training and make full use of the academy's resources, so everything needs to be balanced.
After taking a bath, I sat on the bed and began reading the book "The Moon's Convergence: The Legend of the Moon's Power".
To be honest, although the book's title was very appealing, I didn't expect it to offer much. But I was terribly wrong.
The reason isn't because this book taught me how to use magic. Magic isn't something that can be easily used and mastered. It's extremely complex and requires a great deal of training and practice to become proficient in.
However, this book gave me an invaluable insight into magic—the ability to discern the colors of magic. My magic resonates with various colors, as if the power of the moon were deeply imprinted within me.
The pages of this book are worn and ancient, describing the magical colors associated with each month and revealing the mystery that connects my powers to the moon:
Blood Moon:
The blood moon, symbolizing bloodlust and aggression, awakened a strong fighting spirit within me. This red magic can bring a frenzied feeling to battle.
Whenever this red energy appears on my dagger, my body seems to be awakened by a fighting spirit. Strangely, I notice that the more wounded I am, the stronger this red magic becomes. It's as if the moon's call grows stronger as my own power diminishes, granting me strength when I need it most.
Harvest Month:
The Harvest Month symbolizes the fruits of hard work and abundance, an ability embodied in the pale gray magic associated with it. While I haven't fully explored its potential, I sense this magic grants me agility, increasing my speed with each consecutive attack. The true purpose of this magic remains hidden, waiting for me to discover.
Quarter Moon:
Tsuzuki
Symbolizing excess, potential, and the flow of energy, its vibrant green glow is a testament to its power. Although I haven't fully grasped its effects yet, I remember seeing the green tendrils upon activation. It was as if this magic resonated with a deep, yet unknown, aspect of my abilities.
The above three are what I have observed so far using magic, but the book also mentions two other colors of magic.
New Moon:
The new moon, a dark void, its colors black and purple. It symbolizes mystery and the unknown, as if inviting me to explore unseen worlds; the power it contains remains elusive. Since I have never attempted to draw upon the sun's energy, I can only speculate about the potential hidden within the black and purple magic.
eclipse:
There is almost no information about this page in the book. Apart from mentioning that gold and blue are its representative colors, everything else seems to have been erased.
However, the very existence of this chapter is enough to suggest that it must be related to the sun.
"My magic comes from the moon; I don't feel particularly powerful under the sunlight," I thought to myself.
My affinity with the moon means I cannot draw power from the sun. I initially thought this was impossible, but a vague idea lingered deep in my mind. Despite this limitation, I couldn't help but ponder whether it was possible.
"Perhaps it's using the moon's power to mimic the sun's characteristics?" I asked myself. The sun is undoubtedly very powerful.
What would the sun look like from the moon's perspective?
"It must look like fire," I thought. Every time I see the sun, I always think of flames.
"However, it's too early to draw conclusions," I muttered to myself. Since I haven't yet mastered how to use a particular type of magic, I can't be certain about anything.
But at least I know I have a direction, which is a good start.
And so, I closed the book and lay down on the bed to rest. Now I need to rest well; tomorrow is the day I join the club.
......
The first thing I do after waking up in the morning is to go for a run before breakfast.
I'm not the only one doing this; I've seen some upperclassmen and freshmen running as well.
However, I ignored them and started running, thinking about the day's events.
Today is the day freshmen can apply to join clubs. These clubs cover a wide range of activities, from combat to art.
I'm currently considering which one I should join.
Ethan will definitely join the Longgun Society and the Exploration Society.
Julia will also join the adventure club because she's a girl who loves exploring. Because of Julia's joining, Victor will also join, and then Irina will follow.
This means that all four members of the main characters will join this club, which will undoubtedly attract more and more attention.
"Should I join or not?" I pondered. The reason I wanted to join was simple. In the game, every time this group explored, people who had made pacts with demons, commonly known as 'half-demons,' would appear. This was because the game developers used this group to depict the open world.
Because demon contractors will keep appearing in this guild, they will eventually lead me to demonhood. Some half-demons have even escaped player pursuit in the game, and I will never let those people get away. Thinking this, I decided to join.
This is the first club I'm going to join.
"The second club will definitely be the one Sylvie joined," I thought to myself.
The reason is simple. Since demons will constantly target the future saintess because of her power, Sylvie is a "magnet" that attracts demons' attention.
In fact, the guild with the most side quests in the game is the one that Sylvie joined.
“The History and Art Guild,” I thought to myself.
Despite having "guild" in its name, this group isn't actually a serious organization; it's just a club that enjoys discussing history. However, for some reason, this group frequently travels, exploring the Valerian Federation and visiting buildings left behind from the past.
Their main objective is to explore the structures that existed during the time of no magic, that is, the ruins of the "pre-magic era".
I don't know why Sylvie joined this club, but I don't need to know the reason.
"The last one should be the archery club," I thought to myself.
As the name suggests, as an archer, joining this club will not only help me expand my network, but also provide me with some guidance, because the club's mentor is Mr. Joey, who once invited me.
He said he wanted to see how I improved and that I could join the club anytime if I wanted. Considering I wasn't very skilled with archery yet, that was a good offer.
These are the three clubs I want to join; the others haven't caught my attention. I don't have time to waste on unnecessary clubs, and the fewer clubs I join, the better for me.
With these thoughts in mind, I finished my morning run and then went back to my dorm to rest. My first class today was that woman-hating class again, so I absolutely couldn't be late...
