Chapter 107 Warehouse Mission (2)

Chapter 107 Warehouse Mission (2)

"*sigh*... what's wrong? Nerves?" Angel sighed, only to see the girl slowly tilt her head upwards until their "eyes" connected. It was as if they were staring at each other despite one side, unfortunately not having the capabilities to do such a thing.

"I-I need to use the bathroom," She murmured before dashing in the opposite direction of our resting site and diving into a pile of bushes. She was there for only a few minutes before finally coming out, refreshed and ready to go.

"Okay, now can we go?" Angel rolled her eyes, and as the girl responded with a slight nod, they headed off into their darkness. Their trackers quickly entered the line of sight for the device to capture, allowing me to immediately see four glowing green dots. In addition, there were a few red dots scattered around.

"Come in, Fish," the boss intercommed to me, so I immediately replied back with a limp response. She sounded unamused but quickly continued with what she was going to say. "I can see everything is going smooth, but remember what I said before, don't get involved. You are the keystone to this team. Fighting in the dark is impossibly hard without proper training, and even with Panther, the team will have trouble... so I repeat, do not disobey my orders, understood?" No response. "Fish, come in. Do you understand what I just said?" No response. "FISH! DO YOU HEAR ME!?"

As I switched off the intercom, the darkness around me enveloped every sense that I had. It was familiar. It was almost soothing to feel as its cold and merciless blanket wrapped around me.

...

(Lothin POV)

As soon as we arrived at the warehouse, the eerie chirping of crickets echoed through the forest, filling us with a strange feeling. Was it nervousness? Was it hesitation? Was it a slight disgust at the stench of burning human flesh permeating throughout the entirety of the warehouse?

"Fish, come in. We have sight of the warehouse. Please send the locations. I repeat we have sight of the warehouse. What are the locations of the enemies...." I slightly whispered into the microphone, only to get no response from that stupid troublemaker. "Fuck, I knew it... okay, retreat. We can't do this without-"

Just as I was about to give the order to retreat, heat signatures appeared all over my vision. It was as if the mask I was wearing was telling me the exact location of every single enemy in sight. It was incredible and a function I didn't even know we had.

Angel's voice suddenly cut out, and a loud explosion came from the main stage below. A crate of pallets exploded into woodchips as I saw Angel's body collide with it, her clothes immediately torn through, leaving a chunk of her stomach to become twisted and dark, as if decaying away.

"*cough* *cough* *cough* *cough*... ugh, fuck my ribs... I'm damn lucky he was the one he targeted first. I can counteract the dark magic, but if you all get hit, you're sure to die...." Angel muttered, her voice crackling as the microphone damaged itself upon slamming against her mask.

The dark spot on her stomach untwisted, turning back to normal with the help of a white glow, only for her to look up and see a massive fist crack into her stomach, surely shattering the rest of what her ribs used to be. She unleashed a blood-curdling scream that echoed through our earpieces before shutting off as a mountain of a man with purple skin and black eyes grabbed her by the head.

She flailed against the man's grip, which wrapped around her entire head. That was just how big this man's body was. But we all quickly took action upon confirming nobody else was around. It was just this monster that, for some reason, didn't come up on our heat signatures.

He was lifeless but was living at the same time. Although, that mystery was soon answered as I saw the purple flesh fall off of his bones, leaving a skeletal structure with remaining bits of rotten flesh clinging to the pipes of calcium, allowing for a strong overwhelming being.

"A zombie..." I grit my teeth before aiming straight for the head. Unlike skeletons which you need to eradicate completely, by destroying a zombie's brain, you could easily win against it. So, I ran as fast as I could, enveloping my body in a slick oozing green liquid that caused the zombie's punch to slide right off of me.

It just barely missed, so I didn't take a completely blunt attack, but I was going to be in some pain later on. Yet, I ignored that thought and gripped my daggers even harder, enhancing them with all of the buffs I could muster. And then...

BOOOM

"What...? What the hell...?" I looked at my torso, which had been churned and twisted, the skin looking like it was about to snap. I tried to calm down, but the pain slowly began to infiltrate my very being, and as it's hollow black eyes hovered over me, I saw it stop both of my teammates in their tracks.

Without even looking, its arms dislocated and swung backward, whipping both Panther and Wolf on their torsos. We were going to die. Everybody here was going to die... but I didn't want to die yet. I can't die yet. Not until I...

"Hmmmm... I knew it. So this guy was a necromancer...." A pair of two cold eyes glared down at the monster hovering over me, about to deal the finishing blow. But just as it unleashed its cocked-back punch, the head of five men rolled next to me, sending shivers down my spine. "Are one of those your creator?" A voice cackled lightly before disappearing into the darkness.
