Chapter 355: 352, look into my eyes
When Ryan finished his last sentence, he excitedly hung up the phone.
It wasn’t the first time he had called Du Wei in his dreams.
But each time he called, he could get confirmation from Du Wei.
Ryan’s happiness was that simple.
However, Freddy in the autopsy room wasn’t happy at all.
It was so angry it couldn’t contain itself, and the mist around it boiled over.
...
“I remember now, this voice...”
“This voice... Ryan Hamel, the damn bastard who seduced my mother!”
Its reaction seemed to lag, only bellowing in rage after Ryan had hung up the phone, whether out of fear or because it only then remembered.
When Du Wei heard this, he frowned, “He’s Ryan Hamel? That exorcist who disappeared twenty years ago?”
Freddy roared, “Give me the phone, I want to kill him, it’s him who has turned me into what I am now, he must pay the price.”
With a somewhat somber tone, Du Wei asked, “Are you sure?”
If the Ryan he knew was indeed the genius exorcist Ryan Hamel from twenty years ago, something seemed very wrong.
Ryan and Du Wei were about the same age, both young men.
If Ryan was that person, he’d be nearly fifty by now, how could that be possible?
With a ferocious tone, Freddy shouted, “I will never forget his voice in my lifetime.”
Du Wei felt a headache coming on, he no longer wanted to keep communicating with Freddy because the Marking Ability had already been triggered.
The atmosphere in the entire autopsy room became oppressive to the extreme.
One by one, ghosts appeared around the room, the indoor temperature plummeted, and the overhead lights flickered...
In the corner.
Out of nowhere, a doll appeared, it was Annabelle.
But what puzzled Du Wei was that the moment Annabelle appeared, she didn’t attack him at all, but was trembling wildly as if she were in fear of something.
“Are you afraid of the nun? That doesn’t make sense, she’s in the dream outside the autopsy room right now, without my permission, she can’t come in at all.”
Du Wei found it inexplicable, as Annabelle’s behavior was just too strange.
Normally, she should have attacked him immediately upon being marked.
But instead, she was fearful, as if she had experienced unspeakable terror before the Marking Ability was activated, just like a person.
“Could there be trouble at home?”
A thought flashed through Du Wei’s mind, but then he heard the sound of a car horn outside the autopsy room.
All the marked evil spirits and those strange entities appeared in Du Wei’s dream.
It seemed, though, that the location from where the Marking was triggered was off, with the timing several minutes apart.
Du Wei calmly stated, “That’s not important, what matters is that you saw my eyes.”
...
Outside the dream, in New York, it was nearly dawn.
Everything experienced in the dream might be very brief, but in reality, it could be a very long time.
That’s why people might feel, after only dreaming for a short while, they open their eyes and it’s already daytime.
North Brook District.
The torrential rain continued.
A line of black sedans stopped in front of the psychotherapy clinic.
Hannibal and the others got out of the cars, each with a determined look in their eyes.
“I smell his scent, the fragrance of flesh and blood...”
Hannibal stood in the rain with his arms spread wide, his lips curling upwards, his voice barely audible.
“I can feel it, he’s right here.”
“Move in, bring him back to Europe, make him its host.”
When Hannibal lowered his head, his clothes were already drenched by the rain, and in the dark, his reflection cast three shadows.
The other Cultists burst through the door.
While Hannibal stood amid the crowd, a hunter under the state of Spirit Vision, the psychotherapy clinic gave off a cold and eerie feeling to him.
“Something is off about this house, it’s like a nest that nurtures Evil Spirit.”
He knew that Du Wei had the power to manipulate Evil Spirits but wasn’t worried, as any Devils appeared he would immediately act and devour them all.
However, what perplexed Hannibal was that after the Cultists broke in, there was no sign of activity.
As the Cultists entered the psychotherapy clinic, it was as though they entered another world altogether.
Everything was isolated.
Behind the door, there was a thick fog that could only be seen under Spirit Vision, as profound and silent as the abyss.
“You no longer have the right to resist.”
Hannibal gave the others a look.
The Cultists took out their tranquilizer guns one after the other, standing behind Hannibal.
They intended to capture Du Wei alive.
Hannibal lowered his head, his eyes filled with blood vessels, a scarlet expanse.
He lifted his leg and stepped into the mist.
