Warlock of Oceans: My Poseidon System

Chapter 113 Guild Invitation

Chapter 113 Guild Invitation

I sat in my chair, staring into the woman's eyes as I mulled over this deal. It was definitely a good growth opportunity for the four, but the thing is... I couldn't give any less of a shit about their well-being. They're nothing more than co-workers in the slaughterhouse. If this was with my siblings, then I could maybe agree to this deal just as it is.

"Raise the prize. Five mid-tier books or one high-tier book. I don't mind either, but that's the only way I'll agree to the deal. But I do have a question... why doesn't your brother, or whoever that other guy is, teach them? I don't see him around here."

"Hmmm... I guess I didn't tell you, but he's the one who put together the blades of this academy. He's me but for the blades. He's my position, but for the strongest students in our academy, so I hope you can see that's a difficult process when he has even more work to do than myself."

"Bullshit, those blades are on their own. They handle their missions by themselves and proceed with them however they see fit. Don't try to lie to me to excuse your brother's laziness...."

"*sigh*... whatever. We'll do one high-tier book... Anyways, come in. Let's proceed with the next part of this meeting."

The wooden doors behind me creaked open. A familiar presence then walked in, staring at the Boss, who smirked lightly. Her expression almost looked smug as my sister presented herself nicely to the woman, arms crossed behind her back, chest puffed out, and her posture could only be described as perfect.

"It's good to see you again, chairwoman. What is it that you called me for?" My sister asked, her eyes slowly drifting down to me, who was the complete opposite of her. My posture was horrible, and my presentation of myself was anything but perfect. It was sloppy and casual as if I was speaking to somebody who had not even the slightest bit of importance. But, I did have an excuse as...

"Ch-Chairwoman?" I stuttered, sitting up from my relaxed position. My eyes widened as everything slowly began to connect. Her position of power, why she had so much influence, why she had so much money, and why she was so powerful. She had to be her... it had to be that woman. There was no other person it could have been besides that woman. "You're the chairwoman of the Wixx family. I've seen you on tv... but you don't look as good as you do there."

The woman with long and elegant black hair widened her eyes. Her cold expression shifted into that of a soft laugh. My sister looked at me with a grim expression as if I had said something wrong. But hey, I only spoke the truth.

"Huh? You're in a guild?" I looked up at my sister, who stared down at me in disbelief. The Boss broke out into hysterical laughter, slapping her thigh as she rocked back in forth in her chair. My sister, on the other hand, was displeased as she looked at me with an intense glare.

"You little-"

"*sigh*... Okay, your sister is a member of the Saber Dawn. We recruited her at about the same age as you are currently," The Boss wiped a tear of laughter from her eye. "So, I was wondering if you could maybe convince your brother to join us. We can provide him with much more than this puny school has to offer. Of course, we'll let you finish your academic endeavors without any pressure of missions, but once you're out, you'll be given duties you must complete. That is the offer we have for him. We'll allow carries through various dungeons so you can level up quickly and provide you with evolutionary materials when the time comes."

"You can't convince me. I know how the Saber Dawn works their guild members to death. You have a kind and welcoming front, but I'm sure most of the contracts given out are slave contracts. If not, there wouldn't be so many news reports of your guild constantly losing members practically every week."

"Isn't that a good trade for incredible power, though? It doesn't even last that long? Maybe a few years or so right after school. Of course, there will be a few ties you won't be able to sever, but none of them are malicious," The woman smiled.

As long as you survive... "Also, I have no interest in being tied down to something like that." I don't want to be tied down again. I don't want to be tied down to a position I'll never be able to escape until the end of my days. I want to live my life how I want, and the first step in that direction is to get rid of these quests I've practically been stockpiling. "Maybe later... maybe later."

"Dude, this a great chance," my sister bent down to whisper into my ear. "You want to take revenge on our family, but you aren't even considering joining a guild. Where do you think you'll get the power to go against one of the largest forces in Elpol?"

The woman in front of me continued to smile. It was strange as she acted like she couldn't hear us. Also, she was a completely different person from before. Was this the real her or yet another mask that she put over her face to try and draw me in?
