Chapter 114 Entrance Scaling Exams (1)
"You can't convince me. I know how the Saber Dawn works their guild members to death. You have a kind and welcoming front, but I'm sure most of the contracts given out are slave contracts. If not, there wouldn't be so many news reports of your guild constantly losing members practically every week."
"Isn't that a good trade for incredible power, though? It doesn't even last that long? Maybe a few years or so right after school. Of course, there will be a few ties you won't be able to sever, but none of them are malicious," The woman smiled.
As long as you survive... "Also, I have no interest in being tied down to something like that." I don't want to be tied down again. I don't want to be tied down to a position I'll never be able to escape until the end of my days. I want to live my life how I want, and the first step in that direction is to get rid of these quests I've practically been stockpiling. "Maybe later... maybe later."
"Dude, this a great chance," my sister bent down to whisper into my ear. "You want to take revenge on our family, but you aren't even considering joining a guild. Where do you think you'll get the power to go against one of the largest forces in Elpol?"
The woman in front of me continued to smile. It was strange as she acted like she couldn't hear us. Also, she was a completely different person from before. Was this the real her or yet another mask that she put over her face to try and draw me in?
"I have my own ways... so, you can't convince me now. Maybe later, just not now. Okay? So if that's it, I'm leaving," I announced, sitting up from my chair and heading towards the door. I heard my sister tell me to get back here because she had one last thing to tell me, but I didn't listen. And soon, I returned to my dorm room.
I didn't feel like going to class today, so I just took a nap after taking a cooling ice-cold shower before soaking in a warm bath. It helped ease my muscles and made sure I wasn't sore the very next day from my injuries which bled into the bath water.
"Those bandits... they were strong," I muttered, tracing my hand over my torso, which had light cuts spread across it. It was enough to draw blood but should be patched up the very next day with my regenerative capabilities. "Also... I feel like I'm missing something."
...
(Random Girl POV)
The next person to step through the double doors was Mari, rank twelve. Her long black hair and flashing red eyes scoured the room for potential enemies. She felt the glare and scraping of some of our glares since she didn't have the greatest of personalities. With above-average grades and skill with swords that rivaled even some of the top ten, she should have been higher. Especially when taking into account that her skill in magic was unbelievably high, and her talent practically screamed that she would break through into the higher-ups of this world.
Eventually, a boy with a sly yet gleaming smile stepped through, twirling on the heel of his dress shoes. His short black hair and lavender eyes scraped the audience, which awaited, eagerly anticipating the appearance of the next person to bust through the twin doors.
"Is that... Asger? Does he know the rank one?" My friend whispered into my ear, and I couldn't help but gulp at that thought. If those two allied, there might as well be no point in me and my friend attacking and disrupting the rank one's test.
Asger, rank five. With below-average grades, he was at the bottom of the list when it came to test rankings. But when it came to his skill with spears, he was able to make up for his lack of grades and even average skill in magic. He was a genius when it came to the way of wielding long ranged weapons and is currently the best weapon user in our grade. If his magic or intelligence ever raised, he could very well reach the top three rankings.
And then, the boy everybody had been waiting for casually stepped in. His dark blue eyes were like that of the deep ocean sea. They were generally calm but held a small darkness and mystery behind them, causing him to come off as even stronger than before. It was hard to gauge his skills.
His long ocean-blue hair trickled to his shoulders like the strands of a waterfall crashing down onto his collarbone. His stature was a bit taller than anybody else in our grade, and his body was decently defined, although you had to take into consideration that he had his school uniform on, so... he must have been much more defined than how he came off as.
His dark blue eyes suddenly began to scan across the room as he stood just barely in the auditorium. The doors behind him slammed closed, causing yet another gust of wind to rush into the room, this time ruffling the boy's dark blue hair.
Everybody felt the tension within the room rise as his foot slowly began to step forward, and his dark blue eyes drooped. They were colder and more menacing than any of the pro adventures we had encountered across our young and eager life. Our hair began to stand on edge, and with a single step toward the crowd, a blast of bloodlust and aura erupted from his body.
His entire body turned into a menacing silhouette from which only his eyes glowed a dark blue. They split off into tendrils of oceanic depth which said only one thing to the people analyzing him with ferocious glares.
'Don't get in my way.'
