Chapter 347 A Bond Reforged
Chapter 347 A Bond Reforged
"Thank you," Kaldarix said, offering his gratitude. He knew Mellin was now guarded towards him, and the fact that she was able to let him in regardless meant she still trusted him. That meant he would be able to get through and perhaps convince her to believe what he was about to say.
As Kaldarix stepped into her room and closed the door, he immediately enveloped the entire room in a silence spell. He didn't want the conversation he would now have with Mellin to leak out, allowing Akun to hear what he was about to discuss.
Seeing that she had a guest, Mellin chose to requip her regular clothes.

"So, what is it?" Mellin asked curiously, sitting by the side of her bed that faced the window, choosing to gaze at the stars that lit up the night sky.
Kaldarix let out a soft sigh, almost as if he was about to get something off his chest. He then began in a low, calm tone, "Mellin, do you remember me? Our home or what happened?"
Mellin turned to face him as she narrowed her gaze, a hint of suspicion lingering in their depths as she asked, "Kaldarix, what are you talking about? You are Kaldarix, father's son and my brother and our home is back at Akundia, the home Father built." She said calmly as she proceeded to rest her head on her arm that was inclined on the bed.
Kaldarix gritted his teeth slightly as he heard Mellin say those words. It was obvious she was still without her memories, an existence he now felt was a type of death. Imagine suddenly not knowing who you are or wholeheartedly believing you were someone else—haven't you died in a way? After all, you were not yourself; you are not aware you are actually existing anymore.
Now, Kaldarix was having a somewhat distorted view of Akun. A part of him saw him as his father, while another part saw him as some random unknown dragon who possessed unimaginable power. Both sides were fighting for dominance, and Kaldarix couldn't wholeheartedly say both sides were the same person.
Seeing the tears well up in Mellin's eyes, Kaldarix couldn't help but smile softly. It was a sign she was regaining her memories. He gently placed a hand on her shoulder, leaning in slightly. "Don't cry now, Mellin. It doesn't suit you."
Mellin wiped her tears before they could fall, a smile slowly emerging on her face. She took a deep breath, her hands trembling slightly as she steadied herself. Becoming slightly aware of Kaldarix's identity, she asked, "So, what do you plan to do now, Lord Kal?" She leaned forward, gripping the edge of her bed, somewhat excited to be reunited with the dragon monarch.
"Again with that nickname, Mellin? Why do you still choose to shorten my name?" Kaldarix asked, crossing his arms with playful annoyance.
Mellin smiled and chuckled, tilting her head slightly to the left. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Old habits die hard, as they say. Now, back to what you want to do now."
Kaldarix sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I obviously want to make Velora pay for what she did to our people, by taking away what's precious to her just like she did to us."
Mellin's blue dragon eyes glowed slightly as she leaned closer, her curiosity piqued. "And how exactly do you plan to go about that?"
Kaldarix gritted his teeth, clenching his fists as he kept his emotions somewhat under control. "First, I'll use my magic to help you regain all of your memories."
"And then what?" Mellin asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
As she spoke, the golden draconic crest that had previously subsided while he conversed rematerialized in Kaldarix's purple eyes. "And then," he paused, his eyes glowing slightly, "we'll bring this nation to ruin."
